UPND continue to request the early release of voters register

Having attended the ECZ stakeholders meeting on 12th July, at which the findings of the voters register audit were presented, we would like to explain why the UPND considers that the exercise has failed to address the matter of the foreign voters on the roll, contrary to reports in state-sponsored media.

The auditors are not able to determine the existence of these foreign voters on the roll from their desks in Lusaka, looking solely at NRC and Voters Card numbers. The evidence is not in Lusaka. What is required is for them to take a trip to the Malawian border to actually verify where these people are residing. We believe it would be possible to see from even a short trip that which the Post already exposed, shortly before being shut down.

Following the voter verification exercise we continue to request the early release of the register after a number of our supporters reported that they found they were registered to different polling stations than they had been previously. This has understandably raised concerns that many who did not verify may now find themselves unable to vote on August 11th. We are yet to receive a satisfactory answer on this front.

Furthermore, the duplication of 132,837 NRC numbers revealed during the audit is a concern as it represents a vulnerability in the system that could be taken advantage of by those with the resources and access.

We are raising these concerns now both in public and during the course of our direct engagements with the ECZ so they can be addressed in time and guarantee the credibility of the poll. We are requesting the ECZ to accept these in the constructive and co-operative manner in which they are intended, but we are nevertheless asking for direct answers to these questions.

Our calls are for the electoral register to be continuously scrutinised by stakeholders and the final version released as soon as possible, as well as the extension of the auditing process beyond desktops in Lusaka to properly investigate the matter of foreign voters.

UPND Secretary General.

  1. Quote from UPND Secretary General, Stephen Katuka: “The evidence is not in Lusaka. What is required is for them to take a trip to the Malawian border to actually verify where these people are residing.”

This is the problem with these tribally inclined UPND aficionados. Why is Katuka not talking about taking a trip to the Angolan or Namibian border to verify if there are no Angolans and Namibians who have illegally registered as voters? Is it only Easterners who are guilty of this?

    • Someone remember the following title books; An Ace Up my Sleeve, A coffin from Hong Kong, Knock Knock, The dead Stay dumb, The Vulture is a patient bird, Like a Hole in the head, Tell it to the birds, The Guilty are Afraid???

Yes indeed, of course, James Hadley Chase.

Something tells me this confused Faza Bwalya spent most of his time during fatherhood reading these books and henceforth his wiered way of thinking!! Whoever has read James Hadley Chase books will agree with me…

  2. The onus is on the UPND to bring out or under take that trip because they are the one’s who seem to know that they are “foreigners and underage children”on the voter’s register…

  3. UPND is becoming a danger to this great nation Zambia if they are taken lightly this country is in trouble and alot of people will lose their lives if not careful. this occult called UPND have been asked to bring forward the evidence but have failed because the allegations were made in march but no one has presented the claimed evidence. just imagine how ignorant their IG is, taking a trip to Malawi for what? how can u even know that these are Malawians & these are Zambians when they share names. just accept defeat i know u are losing you tribal grouping

  4. Mr Kakoma is right. UPND must insist on getting the Voters Register now. The truth is rigging these elections thru the manipulation of the Voters Roll is a key PF objective. The fear that a lot of voters have been disenfranchised by transferring their names or deleting them is real. There is no point in voting without an authentic Voters Register. Its like playing football without rules and leaving PF to be a player and referee at the same time. This is not acceptable. Forward with HH and UPND.

  5. If you want to know whether there are foreigners on the register just look at the registered voters in previous years plus the newly registered . the sum total of the root meean square subract the current voters and what you get is the real voters register who are voting for Pf. If you kill them red blood will come out which hh is so much after. Five it to him to drink.

  6. It has been predicted that as 11 August draws nearer and neared, Hexit Hexit will surely go boncas. How many countries, institutions, agents, people and shadows has he not accused of rigging these elections?
The other day it was printing company of Dubai, now it’s foreigners, please just accept that you are not destined to be president of our great country and move on with your stolen privatisation money.
Twalikukana fwe bantu period, our President is EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU TILL 2021.

  7. looking and searching for excuses ’til another day ends without finding any love. and little do they realise that the more they continue on this selfish and childish trajectory the more they lose. there surely must be therapy for paranoia
