Lwandamina threatens Times reporter

Share

Zesco United coach George Lwandamina on Wednesday threatened to beat up Times of Zambia reporter Samuel Lukanda minutes before the CAF Champions League match against Wydad Casablanca.

This incident followed the match preview for the Zesco-Wydad game Lukanda authored in which he highlighted that the Zesco coach refused to appear at a CAF mandated pre-match media briefing prior to the final Group A match.

It seem the coach didn’t take kindly to a swipe in the story that he snubbed a pre-match briefing on Tuesday demanding he must be written to.

Lwandamina verbally abused the reporter at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium as his team was heading for the pre-match warm-up and was only restrained by police officers.

“”You want to kill me using your pen,” Lwandamina fumed.

“Chik**la twaku sunga pa trip elyo ule lemba ifyobe to**ba noko ndekupono twangishiba ine (we looked after you on our trip but today you are writing rubbish. I will beat you up,” Lwandamina told the reporter.

It took two minutes for the Zambia coach to be reined in.

  1. ididnt kno that chicken George can also insult, anyway he is human.manje ba UPND cadre nakubola ni politics, nowander you have degrees in losing

  2. Ba Lwandamina tone down. Pride will bring you down. Remember to invest wisely the money you are making and make friends now instead of enemies. Pride usually comes before a fall.

  3. Let us support lwandamina, no need to provoke him. Football standards have fallen in Zambia, the quality of players is low. That’s why they are all being sent back from professional stints. In the old days when our players migrate to Europe they would secure first team places. Now they can’t even last in Egypt. The point is
; for someone to reach a continental semi final with mediocre players, it’s a big achievement. Let us help him and not provoke him

  4. Advice to dear George. You are a good guy and we respect you. Leave violence to Kampyongo, Kambwili, and that group of people. Let’s unite please

  5. Yoh true meaning lost in translation to English.
Ba George deal reporters with care.

Bravo to your work on the field.

  6. Lwandamina’s threats brings to the fore the stupidness of journalists begging for tickets to a game. It is very common in Zed but it is very unethical and should stop. Journalists must have their own tickets to watch a game whether it is in Zambia or Morocco. If you cant pay then dont cover.
