THE United Independence Party (UNIP) in Southern Province has applauded the decision taken by United Democratic Forum (UDF) president Miles Sampa to respect and support the re-election of President Edgar Lungu.

And Federal Democratic Party (FEDEPA) president Alfred Sayila has commended the Constitutional Court for quashing United Party for National Development (UPND)’s petition on the election of President Lungu.

UNIP Southern Province chairperson Robert Mukengami said the decision taken by Mr Sampa, who recently supported UPND president Hakainde Hichilema, showed that he was a selfless and seasoned politician who had the interest of the nation at heart.

Capt (retired) Mukengami said in an interview yesterday that the presidency of Zambia should never be entrusted in the hands of selfish leaders who had no vision and agenda of improving the plight of the poor in the nation.

“Sampa is a Christian who has gone to school and has the love for this country and we give him a pat on the back because he has seen the need to move the economic agenda of this country instead of cheap bitter politicking being exhibited by some opposition leaders.

“UNIP has this country at heart and it is sad that some disgruntled politician in some opposition political parties want to take advantage of the situation, they must know that we have only one country to run to and that country is Zambia and so we want all worth leaders of political parties to forget about the elections and chat the way forward beneficial for this country, “apt Mukengami said.

Meanwhile, Rev Sayila commended the Constitutional Court for quashing the election petition by UPND which had challenged the re-election of President Lungu.

Speaking in an interview in Livingstone yesterday, Rev Sayila congratulated the Constitutional Court for being mindful of the country’s security.

“For us this decision was long overdue after the polls on 11 August and also that on their own the courts had made it clear that the 14 days had actually expired and that the decision was to be made on the same day.

” In future we expect that the courts of law to base their judgment on moral grounds and in favour of what is reasonable because you cannot be pleasing individuals at the expense of the many Zambians because it can plunge this country into chaos,” he said.

The FEDEPA leader appealed to Mr Hichilema to concede defeat and help reorganise his party in readiness for 2021.

“I want to appeal to Hakainde Hichilema to concede defeat for the best interest of this country, he has tried five times for the presidency he has failed and maybe God has never destined him for political position.

“The best thing HH can do is to concede defeat and show statesmanship and maturity because he is a businessman. I also feel time has come for him to let go of the UPND presidency and concentrate on his businesses,” he said.

    • Political suicide by Sampa.

You have to a have standing and back it up all the way.

I think he is a wee bit insecure and immature.

      I hope he grows up.

      The knives are out now.

      Thanks

    • Its not surprising that Miles Sampa is a political party reveller who has been in 5 different political parties within a year.
The political ‘prostitution’ by Sampa starts from PF, to DF, migrated to an alliance with Chipimo the under 5 dispensary. After running around like a lost faecal fly, he found himself in UPND. Now Sampa is back at PF due to his lack of ethos and integrity. Soon the bandwagon will be with Mulyokela to end his migrated political career. Njala Yatyola tyola Miles Sampa.LOL!

    • Its not about HH but about the concourt and the new constitution, You guys have to remember that at one time you will be in a position where and evil man will get into state house and you will have a man of integrity in opposition whom you will love very much. What will happen if this evil man steals an election for all to see and when taken to concourt, He just plays trick/sick and then come back after 14 day when the case as been dismissed. That is why normal people are saying a bad precedent has been set up, in short it means any evil guy in state house can easily abuse this concourt and when it will be your man in opposition thats when you will open your eyes and cry to the international community for help but it will be too late.

  2. When PF steals the election in 2021, 2026 that’s when they’ll wake up from their folly & regret not having seen early signs of a failed state. Call me what you want but these are early symptoms of a failed state (intimidation of private media, paralyzed police force, paralyzed judiciary).

  3. PEOPLE. HOW CAN YOU CONGRATULATE A CROOKED STOLEN CORRUPT WIN AS GOD GIVEN. THE GOD I WORSHIP IS NOT CORRUPT OR EVIL. HE IS A JUST GOD. SO IN ALL THIS CORRUPTION DO NOT STATE THAT IT IS GOD GIVEN BECAUSE IT IS NOT. WHEN THE LORD POURS OUT HIS WRATH ON US. THEN WE WILL ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A TRUE GOD. NOT USING HIS NAME IN VEIN. THERE IS NO JUSTICE IN ZAMBIA.

    • DO NOT JUST YAP SHOW PROOF OF THEFT, UPND LAWYERS HAD 14 DAYS, THEY JUST PI”SSD ALL OVER THEMSELVES WITHOUT A SHRED OF PROOF … THE CON-COURT WILL NEVER ALIGN HERSELF WITH SUCH MEDIOCITY AS EXHIBITED BY UPND/HH LEGAL TEAM. I AM HAPPY ZED WILL NEVER RULED BY SUCH INCOMPETENCE. JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED

  4. if PF stole, why dd it take 14 days beating round the bush at the concort, what was their main objective then? they had evidence, all they needed is table it while raising those PIs. now its looking as though their aim was just strangle the country and expect confusion and then say the pipo are are un happy so PF you are unwanted. the petitioner lawyers were PRO PF, in short. HH and GBM be on these guys; they are your worst enemies maybe

  5. HH go and sleep KAPU LIK0BE waufwa. You have lost with your baa boon friend GBV, its time to give power to GARY NKOMBO or MWETWA if you still want a TONGA to lead the defunct UP AND DOWN (UPND) party. by the way where is Mwetwa and Nkombo? this is a big sign that things are NOT ok in this party. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu nuuuuuuuuuuuuu naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa all the way, chikonko mwikate kachema mubi (bad Shepherd)

  6. Gbm believes in bullying people so for him to be so it means he’s realised that the whole thing (petition) was a non starter. Any way they say “nothing ventured, nothing gained “…..So HH will say I tried fyakoselefye “

  7. KIKIKIKIKIKIKIKIKIKI
KIKIKIKIKIKIKIKIKIKI KWENA UYUMUNTU ALUNTUKA, FIVE TIMES FAILING ELECTIONS: Awe lishamo mweeeee. napapata mwilamuseka uyu guy upona lyonse

  8. I enjoyed HH ‘s interview with the BBC aired at midnight. He kept own giving his own thoughts and not answers to the questions

  9. How was an election stolen ? Please enlighten me with factual evidence not nuendos.
Because terrorists are being groomed or thieves are walking away scot free while someone or some people are busy makin blank and empty accusations.

  10. Dear Bloggers,
Yes you may argue that they wasted time and based on technicalities, the case could not take off.
There are rules of engagement. in any situation.
For example. If two teams are to pay football in a ground, each team should have 11 payers, and appropriate jersey for identification and at Toss of coin to determine which side Team A will start scoring to, and B vise-versa. You do not just go in the football pitch and start playing as long as you are eleven and score on both sides at random, noooo.

    1) In this trial PI included, the president stepping down, and speaker to take over while case was running, But Edgar refused.
2). The PF lawyers were dilly darling to receive court documents for almost 3-4 days claiming they did not receive court papers. You dont just go in…

  12. Ebupuba bwine ati we do not want inkondo mu Zambia….ubupuba fulu fulu but you are busy defending the thief who stole from Zambians a very important ballot and laughing at your fellow Zambians (HH and GBM) for exercising their constitutional rights (non-existent by the way in Zambia) to have a fair and free election result. Anyways fyenu ufyo bane….you want ECL you got him. As for me and my family we are safe abroad. Living in a civilized and corrupt free country where there are checks and balances and where there is respect for the rule of law, NOT IN ZAMBIA. Zambia is dead epofye naba Kalu niba politician…bwafya sana. Why do we have UNZA and CBU if we cannot uphold the rule of law. This shows how corruption is the order of the day in our country. HH is doing the right thing and he…

  13. In Zambia we need to enact a law that bars politicians from crossing over to the winning or the ruling party that way we can avoid having to recycle politicians over and over again. This has to STOP. Politicians like Frank Bwalya and Miles Sampa, Lifwekelo, Dora Siliya to name but a few….should never be allowed to join any other political party once that party they belong to loses an election. And also we need to enact another law to set a how many members a politician need to have to qualify in forming a political party. So that people like Miles Sampa and others with only a few members to their side are disqualified to even contest the elections. In the end we will have only few but BIG political parties with a large following. We need to learn to discourage tuntemba parties which do…
