Lwandamina leaves Zambia job

Share

FAZ has dropped George Lwandamina as Zambia coach and brought in Wedson Nyirenda as acting trainer.

FAZ made the announcement on Tuesday citing club pressures at Zesco United for the decision to drop Lwandamina who’s side has a critical CAF Champions League semifinal engagement against Mamelodi Sundowns with the first leg set for Ndola on September 17 and the final leg to follow on September 24 in Pretoria.

Lwandamina leaves the post that he also held in a caretaker capacity since June, 2015 when he replaced Honour Janza.

However, Nyirenda will only briefly act as head coach before an expatriate is hired and the former will be relegated to assistant trainer.

“The process of recruiting as expatriate coach is still underway with finalization between FAZ and the Ministry of Youth,Sport and Child Development at an advanced stage,” FAZ general secretary Ponga Liwewe said in a statement

  1. This is just cleansing out of the kalusha regime. If we are not careful, we shall spend the whole term of office cleanisng at the expense of delivering results. It is typical Zambian culture.

  2. Let them cleans all and they will too be cleaned since they are not bringing results. Its not about change its about results.Period

    • Wrong! The how do you think he managed success at red Arrows, zesco and green buffaloes? Which other current coach in Zambia has done that?

  3. About time this circus ended…you cannot have a national team coach working Part – time especially when he is also has pressing engagements with his club.

    • Wrong! Even in zambia’s great footballing days we had coaches like willie Phiri, Alex chola etc, coaching their clubs and national team and yet their clubs and country did well. Read you ignorant guy

  4. Lwandamina is a good coach but of late it is not only his belly that has been getting bigger in size, unfortunately his head too. Now he can focus on Zesco so that there are no excuses when things fall apart.

  5. Lwandamina s record is one of the poorest in the history of FAZ. Janza and Phiri are the best local coaches we have. Wish we could give Wedson a chance too

  6. Imwe bantu Wedson Nyirenda sure, what has he done to warrant him the honor of coaching the national team? We just need an expatriate coach for now if only to put things in order.

  7. what difference does it make naimwe ba faz?weddy has a limited brain like chicken lwandamina,he fails to apply technical tactics in crucial matches just like lwandamina, zambian football is not going anywhere as long as these local coaches will be trusted with that position, tabalapya aba ama coaches benu periooood!
