  1. “Killing oneself is, anyway, a misnomer. We don’t kill ourselves. We are simply defeated by the long, hard struggle to stay alive. When somebody dies after a long illness, people are apt to say, with a note of approval, “He fought so hard.” And they are inclined to think, about a suicide, that no fight was involved, that somebody simply gave up. This is quite wrong.”

    • Every 40 seconds, a person commits suicide somewhere in the world. Fact is most countries with high suicide rates are poor. Generally, committing suicide is about three times more common in men than in women.

  2. They may be mental health issues which GRZ and Zambians may not be aware of or failing to address. Just a thought.

  3. Committed suicide just because their cult leader tumbled in this years election. Atleast 2 useless id1ots are subtracted from the voters roll. Rest in Hell

  4. Dear Popolyongo, I am a strong PF member and a Christian but am extremely disappointed with some of your comments against opposition. The men who committed suicide need sympathy whether they are UPND or PF. Even God is not happy with the death of a sinner. My brother Zambia is a Christian nation. Repent of your merciless comments and ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart.

    • Musa you have corrected our lost brother Popolyongo in a way that needs no addition. I am also PF, a Christian and a Zambian. I am truly sorry for the loss of these 2 souls.
Please Zambians, whenever you have thoughts of suicide learn to see either a pastor/priest, a social counselor from social welfare or a psychologist for those who can afford.
It is really very sad to lose a member of the family through suicide. Even the spouse who you have differed with gets extremely traumatized when a loved one commits suicide.

  5. A UPND SUPPORTER CANNOT COMMIT SUICIDE KNOWING WELL THAT THE STRUGLE TO SAVE ZAMBIAS DEMOCRACY HAS JUST STARTED. Only those who where singing dununa reverse can opt for suocide after seeing how bad things are now.
    Ba polyongo mwaloba ilyauma.

  6. That’s why in the Military if one commits suicide he or she will not be given military burial it is regarded as cowardise.Jesus went though had times but never lost direction of faith.

  7. Please leave politics out of this and give a thought for the mourning families. Suicide is a double tragedy because a breadwinner is lost and the spouse will suffer at the hands of relatives of the dead person. It also stigmatizes the entire clan

  8. Suicide from marital dispute is very sad actually. Things spouses say to each other at the height of an argument are usually demeaning, damaging, and disparaging. If one is already pre-disposed to depression (and most men are, incidentally), it is usually the last straw that sends them over the mental cliff. Very sad indeed. Please help societies grapple with challenges and let spouses know how to emphathise with each other as often as possible…

    • Perhaps not! But I think if you make people demand unreal things and incite them into unreasonable passions on the wrong things, they can start to apply the same emotions and demands in their personal lives. It’s possible the emotions evoked by HH in the region has changed how people perceive things in their lives to be happy.

  9. Very sad. Hot temper and passions are the cultural traits of some Tribes. People who live by heightened emotions respond accordingly to normal emotional incidents. This is equally across tribal boundaries by the way.

  10. It is unfortunate way to end life. While others are crying for availability of medicines in the many centers built in the PF rule, the fit are eliminating themselves. Whatever the reason behind this, it should never amount to self distraction.

  11. Popolyongo@4 are you human? You are so heartless. Committing suicide is no joke. When someone reaches the point of taking their own life then you know things are extremely bad but am not in any way supporting this act. Be sympathetic. Why should everything be about politics?

  12. THE TRUTH IS THAT BEHIND EVERY SUICIDE CASE, THERES AN EVIL SPIRIT WHICH CAN ONLY BE DEFEATED SPIRITUALLY. THIS IS WHY WE NEED THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TO DELIVER US. MANY CHRISTIANS ENCOUNTER SERIOUS PROBLEMS BUT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A BURDEN BEARER, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST SAVIOUR OF MANKIND, THEY ALWAYS OVERCOME PROBLEMS OF LIFE AND ARE ABLE TO START AFRESH. PLEASE PEOPLE, JESUS CHRIST IS REAL AND HE SAVES. SHALOM !

  13. @chilez ..In actual fact most of the so called poor are much happier than those with billions. Many rich have problems which are not visible to us such as poor love relationship, insecurity of their wealth etc. So many times these people end shooting themselves, drowning in their baths, overdose etc.

  14. Selfish and weak people commit suicide, they fail to think about those left behind. I feel sorry for the families. Not the *****s that killed themselves. too bad they won’t be there for Christmas this year.
