YALI Governance Adviser Isaac Mwanza has condemned the continued detention of UPND Lusaka Province official Gilbert Liswaniso saying his continued detention is uncalled for and a gross violation of his Constitutional rights.

“I have read about the continued detention of Gilbert Liswaniso with sadness and a heavy heart. First, I was told Liswaniso had said that he and the UPND will not accept President Lungu as Republican President and for that reason he was arrested after the program and now incarcerated at Woodlands,” Mr Mwanza said.

“My first reaction is that this makes a very very sad reading. I have said it before that we all know that President Lungu was declared duly elected and was duly sworn in as President of Zambia even though other players have refused to accept his re-election.”

“He is President. But President Lungu must ask his men and women in uniform to stop being overzealous. If people like Liswaniso and his party will not want to recognise President Lungu, you can’t force them or use the whip of the law to have them recognise him. He must let them continue to speak that they don’t recognise him while he continues to govern otherwise the President will get distracted with such fights and citizens and the world will view him his Presidency with question marks.”

He added, “If somebody does not like me or doesn’t want to recognise me as an Business or NGO leader or Farmer when I am one, that is his business. I have no need to chase after them.”

  1. There is a colored woman “ZORA” in Villa Elizabeth who rents out 10 flats on “Polonari Rd” at 1500 US-Dollars EACH per month, plus a big house on the same plot without issuing any reciepts to the tenants. She also has other properties in other areas in Lusaka on rent without paying taxes.

    • Ask Mushipe to help your cadre u fo.ools. Why can GBM and HH do the same live on radio and we can C if they will b fuc.king locked up in the coolers . Ba Yali bafika.la – There are Sedition laws all over the world. . .we shall c if the idi.ot has balls to do it again after being released.

  2. Comment:When the elephants are fighting the fyani suffers the most. HH and GBM continues enjoying their money as usual but their cadres who have nothing to show the world are the culprits being detained for various offences including Aggra which is very serious.

  3. Mr Mwanza you can not compare your status to that of the president. It seems you do not understand the presidency very well.

  4. So what this YALI man is saying is that one can choose to follow or Not follow the Laws of the country. That bus operators for example, have a choice to move their buses even at midnight and not regard the new Law on movement of such. If this is the line of thinking of YALI then I would call it partisan thinking depending on who is the victim. There are so many others whose justice has been denied or delayed for various reasons and would be better to look at the reasons rather than the individual and try to improve on the system.

  5. Hasn’t this man got a lawyer? And why is the Upnd leadership doing nothing about this man’s plight? Our law gives one 24hrs to be given reason for their detention otherwise they must be released.
