A search at the Patents and Company Registration Agency (PACRA) has revealed that Oracle Media Production is owned by shareholders Mutinta Mazoka M’membe and Frank Sibbuku.

Oracle Media is behind the publication of The Mast Newspaper which is a replica of the Post.

The ZRA has since declared The Mast an illegal publication as it is not registered for tax purposes.

The search showed that The Mast under Oracle Media was incorporated on September 15th, 2016 and is posted an address as being situated in Ibex Hill in Lusaka.

The Mast shares the same address as M’membe’s wife’s Mutinta and the premises was later used by Post staff after ZRA seized assets and premises of The Post Newspaper.

Meanwhile, Provisional Liquidator of The Post Newspaper, Messrs Lewis Mosho wrote a letter of complaint against The Mast to the Ministry of Home Affairs and to the Inspector General of Police stating that The Mast newspaper was violating the copyright law.

  1. Mosho and the PF were too quick to attack everything Mmembe. Learn to follow procedure. You see you might let a thief like Mmembe go free on a technicality. Speed kills. Mosho and ZRA should work professionally. This gotcha business will not lead Zambia anywhere. Wina azalina and I don’t mean the Veep.

    • Low calibre lowyers are worse than untrained journos. A simple check at Pacra was all that was required. Next is to see what IP the Post Newspaper owned. I don’t think they owned the fonts and blue colour in which the Post masthead was printed.

    • @Buck Teeth, you are right. I’ve studied issues of IP and unless there was a patent on the lay out of the “Post Newspaper” this matter is not going anywhere. Moreover, Oracle can just go online and register for a TPIN there is clearly no basis to be denied one.

  2. No wonder we are so poor because our minister are so preoccupied with personal gain and citizens are watching and smiling. We should allows this kind of attitude. Its destroying the nation.

  3. For better or for worse ! Usually family business in which the woman is in control turn out better than those run by us men. I am certain Mutinta like her law abiding father MHSRIP one AKM will ensure taxes are paid when due, the workers are paid on time and even that the editorials are written by a professional scribe. We don’t mind a government, individual being criticized or exposed what bothers most readership is the clear hate that is then translated into news editorials. On behalf of our party, our people and on my own behalf, I wish the MAST every success I also hope you can repackage it to stop resembling the PAST. All the best Madame….2021 Zambia Forward under new leadership…

  4. Nothing wrong with Mutinta owning the Mast. The only problem here is that the Mast is Mmembe and Mmembe is the Mast. He is the person behind the Mast and the language especially the editorial comments is 100% Mmembe’s language. Mmembe is in great shock that the Post which was two decades ago untouchable, and the only platform that he was using to fight and destroy politicians and individuals is fast slipping out of his hands. The principle of life is that no matter how fast you try outrun everyone in the race of life, you will one day be beaten by your weakest opponent.

    • Nothing wrong with Fred M’membe writing editorials for the Mast either! Why should that be a problem? Zambians are too small minded and mean spirited…when you have a political conflict, you let it affect ALL areas of life – economic, religious etc. Learn to sandbox things. Destroying Fred M’membe does not have to mean destroying the many families that work at the Post. Where is the sense in that? Let the government leave the Mast alone!

  5. I knew this…that wife of his is with him just for that…what type of a wife goes woth the husband in the middle of the night to collect documents.

    • What did u expect her to do d!ckhead? You envy the fact that he has someone loyal or is it that you were raised all alone in a clay pot and don’t know how to be loyal to people? Senseless!

  6. Is it true that the seemingly timid Lungu has managed to bring down the walls of Jericho in the names of the Post and Kambwili within a space of days? Unbelievable! Like watching the tramp called Trump overturning the US political establishment. The MAST must be wary of this hide-and-seek game because there’s a bigger – and often ruthless – Lungu hiding behind that cool facade. Zikomo.

    • ALL SAID AND DONE AGAINST THE POST WE ZAMBIANS NEED A PRIVATE MEDIA TO KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR COUNTRY. TIMES DAILY AND LUSAKA TIMES ARE ALL PROPAGANDA MACHINERYS FOR THE RULING PARTY.

  7. Lungu does not want his corruption and looting publicised that is why he is shutting private media.

As for kambwili a deal has been reached with lungu. Kambwili became too rich and his corruption was known by all. Lungu has reached a face saving deal with kambwili to sack him to show he is fighting corruption but nothing more will happen to kambwili while the looting and corruption goes on

Don’t be fooled by the sacking of kambwili.
This is a well planned sacking.
The message here is steal quietly.

    • When is GRZ going to perform if their pre-occupation is to fight the press and everyone with a different view, because they shall always be people with a different view, especially now as the unprecendented lies of the past 5yrs begin to fall apart.

  9. Why do we have so many ignorant Zambians? What is wrong with Mmembe’s wife owning a company? Where and when in law did it become a crime for any Zambian to own a company? Your induced hatred and blind following of the manipulators will kill you Zambians. How long will it take you to realize that Fred is not an angel but human prone to making mistakes like all of us? But the thieves are manipulating you to think that Fred who has done so much to open your eyes to the crookedness and thefts in succeeding governments is the devil here and the thieves are the angels. Zambians wake up and see through the real reasons for the muzzling of all the independent media in the country? why are we so dull?

  10. hahaha the dull pf cadres do not understand simple company law. This is a separate entity from the post. Just because one is married to some one does not make them liable for any other issues in their partner’s business. You cannot put down press freedom and expect to get away with it in this day and era. Lungu will just frustrate himself more and cause his own death because we know the chap is not well. Please lungu for your own health i advise you to desist from fighting educated people. uzafa chabe

  11. All what Zambians want is independent media. Zambians of today dont know how democracy came about. We refused one party state in KK era and this is where we are heading: corruption

  12. I am not very conversant with law and I stand to be corrected. It seems to me that PF being who they are, a party of semi-literates who just pretend to be literate, have actually unknowing relieved Mumembe of huge debts by liquidating his post. He will now no longer worry about how to pay off those huge debts and is walking a free man all because of PF incompetence. I feel that PF as usual was not smart enough on this one.

  13. ZRA should have done better than the way this issue was handled. They should have solved this issue amicably making sure the debt is cleared while preserving jobs for hundred of workers who earned their livelihood on the company. Politicians should learn something from american politics….Obama invited Trump to congratulate him on his victory. It should not be a tool for vengeance and set scores with people you don’t agree with. Iam happy now kambwali who fought hard to close the post, will need a private media as the znbc and its sister times and daily mails will no longer give him positive coverage.

    • big moze, he should be taught a lesson first, even if it will go over his small head and huge neck! These are the people who should be given negative coverage. In Zambia, settling political scores involves economic sabotage to your enemies. This has been going on since KK days. We need to stop this. It is quite uncivilized.

  14. There is nothing wrong with Membe’s wife registering a company as long as she meets PACCRA registration requirements. The mast newspaper is not the company to start receiving attacks. Stop expressing your ignorance about company laws.

  15. THE CRIMINALS ARE THOSE IN GOVERNMENT. INSTEAD OF SPENDING TIME FIXING THE ECONOMY, THEY ARE BUSY CHASING MMEMBE, HICHILEMA AND GBM. DID YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN AMERICA? EVEN IF THE MEDIA BOTH STATE AND INDEPENDENT GANGED UP AGAINST TRUMP, THE UNBIASED ELECTORAL SYSTEM SHOWED WHO THE REAL WINNER WAS AND HILARY CLINTON WITHIN MINUTES PHONED TRUMP CONGRATULATING HIM. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE DEMOCRATS DEMOSNTRATED IN SEVERAL CITIES BUT THE REPIBLICANS DID NOT SEND CADRES TO DISRUPT THEM AND TRUMP PRAISED THE DEMONSTRATORS’ PASSION FOR THEIR COUNTRY. BUT HERE IN ZAMBIA PEOPLE HAVE BEEN PUT BEHIND BARS JUST FOR SAYING THAT LUNGU DID NOT WIN. NO WONDER LUNGU HAS ONLY MUGABE AND MUSEVENI FOR FRIENDS. LET THE MAST NEWSPAPER BE AND FIND WAYS OF FIXING THE ECONOMY. AND IF LUNGU KNEW THAT MANY OF…

  16. Mutinta you have my blessings as a senior citizen of this broken country. The PF are truly semi literate how do you expect a company that is less than six mounths to have tax problems. Mutati and who ever is incharge of revenue collectio at ZRA should resign on moral grounds
