Zesco United have relinquished the FAZ Super Division crown after leaders Zanaco beat Napsa Stars on Wednesday.

Zanaco beat Napsa Stars 2-1 away at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka to amass an unassailable 72 points with three games to spare.

However, Zanaco came from one-down at halftime to ensure they collected their seventh league title after Enock Mwepu had put Napsa ahead in the 35th minute.

Kwame Attram equalized in the 59th before an Alex Mwamba own goal in the 79th minute to end Zesco’s two-year reign as Zambian champions.

Meanwhile, Zesco will now battle to settle for second place with four games remaining after beating Kabwe Warriors 2-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola thanks to an Idris Mbombo brace in the 1st and 66th minutes.

Zesco are third on 60 points, seven behind Nkana who have one game left to play.

  1. Zanaco are PLANGAS. They will be knocked out in the first or second round and they will be relegated to the CAF cup where they will be eliminated in the first round. This is a fact. They are time wasters!
