Share

Floods  have hit Luangwa District in Lusaka Province owing to  the rising water
levels in the Luangwa river and Zambezi river displacing some households, affecting
the movement of people, destroying crop  in the fields, and business in the area.
A check by Acting Luangwa District Commissioner, Ngoni Moyo and some
members of the District Disaster Management Committee (DMMU) in Chief Mphuka
chiefdom on Sunday  found that more than ten families in Mandombe
village have been left homeless as aresult of the collapse of their houses.

Some villages such as  Amoro and Kanyenze have been cut off from areas
where they access services such as health and education  because of the streams
which have flooded.

The business centre at the Boma Township has  also been submerged in water
affecting business as shop owners have closed their shops.

Mr Moyo and the DMMU members  have described the
floods as sad incident as many  people in the area have been affected
and they failing access social amenities such as health and education.
The floods have also covered some portions of the Luangwa D145 main
road making it difficult  to motorists to pass freely.

The most affected areas are Mandombe, Amoro, Kanyenze, the Boma
Township and Mphuka where the team found that Chief Mphuka’s palace
has been cut off as the main road leading to his palace
has been covered by water.
The ten families whose houses collapsed in Mandome have since been
moved to the community hall while awaiting further assistance.

  1. brainwashing is a powerful weapon especially using religion Christianity. In Zambia it’s hard to find a good job or food but it’s easy to find churches all most everywhere, this one of the ways the European countries used to keep Africans down… so easy to brainwash someone once you accomplish it you can make that person do anything you want, just keep going to church and the most painful part of the brainwashing when people who have no food to eat give the little money they have to the evil churches and f a k e pastors.

    • And the cadres in upnd are the worst brainwashed fellows. They can’t think logically. Just read about their call on govt to hear their expired petition. Indeed laughable.

    • The way you kids of today writes is terribly boring. Avoid hearing the voice of Edgar while writing.
You kids missed out KK & Chiluba speaking.

  2. Am glad the cause of this flood is no imposed on the government, especially our friends the UPNDs. Everything is the current government. Let’s help the affected people.

  3. some comments on Christianity stink, if you don’t believe in God,the Lord Jesus Christ keep your folly to yourself!why talk about something you don’t know, thus why people are cursed. May God have mercy on your sins.
yes fake pastors may be there but even true Pastors are there. Just like we have fake phones and original phones. it depends on what you are looking for.

    • @ st, that’s exactly what first commentator, the humanist meant…Christianity has made you stop thinking. Use your brain for once my brother, it is free.

  4. True indeed. Just ask bamwenye, Chinese, Malaysians, Hindus, Moslems etc., etc, do they believe in your Jesus; a white man with long hair and a hooked nose? The answer is NO! Nomba bushe bena tubantu? Lekeni ifyakukopakopa and be real mwebantu please. This Jesus thing is fake and was used by white missionaries to extort monies from our poor anscestors. These bustards came and planted so-called churches in our communities in order to collect millions of dollars from our poor souls. Before we even knew it, they made trillions. Just try to go to your nearby Barclays bank and see if they can give you a loan. Today they are even more ruthless by introducing these fake NGOs. Mwefipuba imwe today, you’re now calling yourselves ati “Born again” Christians, shame on you.

    • At the same time these same people built big churches in Europe America and they even go there to worship the same fake Jesus. My question to you is whom are they stealing from in their own countries. If it’s a fake Jesus they introduced Africans to then which Jesus do they worship? Don’t tell me you’ve never being to USA or Europe where bigger churches are planted. Think broadly and outside the box. If Scientists whom you believe have proved that Jesus is true who are you to oppose.

    • In Africa most of the born again church’s come from the US and are run by Black Americans from the Southern US bible belt, knowing how to rip off their African brothers and sisters.

    • @Nkope, the same bamwenye, Chinese, Malaysians, Hindus, Moslems etc borrowed ideas from the western world which was built on Christian grounds by our white brethren-they have implemented those ideas well.
Its just that we Africans are slow when it comes to development.

  5. Christianity ”new birth” (Born again) was not brought by the white men. take your riches with your white men, i would rather have the Lord Jesus Christ than to have the riches in the world. away with your dirt monies! even if I’m poor with My Lord Jesus that is better for me

  6. Comment:If u know nothn abt Jesus of Nazareth den jst shut up,some of us in Him we move, breath nd without him we re nothn undrstnd dis stupidy.

  7. Im brainwashed by the bible hence I know that this article is not talking about any religion or Jesus for that matter. Tho who think they have brains and not brainwashed are busy debating a matter which the main article is not addressing. How do I believe you even have a functional brain when you can’t align your debate with the article? I thought Jesus was mentioned in the article maybe that’s why people are criticizing us BORN AGAINS. I’ve gone thru it several times and nothing of that nature exists.
THE ISSUE WE SHUD BE ADDRESSING IS THE FLOODS THAT HAVE AFFECTED MOST PARTS OF LUANGWA AND LET’S PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO MITIGATE THE SITUATION.
IT’S PATHETIC THAT YOU CAN BUY YOUR DATA AND USE OFFICE TIME TO JUST WRITE AMA ILELE.
GIVEN A POSITION OF LEADERSHIP, FROM THE WAY YOU BLOG…

    • @ Brown Envelope, true that!

This is really shocking! What has Jesus got to do with the floods in Luangwa? You guys are unbelievable really! And we wonder why our country is failing to cope with the pace at which other countries are developing?
