Nsabata in race to be fit for Algeria clash

Zambia number two goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata is in a race to be fit for next week’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Group B qualifier first leg match against Algeria in Lusaka.

Zambia will hosts Algeria on September 2 at the National Heroes Stadium before travelling to Blida for the final leg on September 5.

Nbasata is one of two Zanaco call-ups who are currently sidelined with injury ahead of camp that begins in Lusaka on August 27.

The other is striker Augustine Mulenga who sustained his injury on Zambia duty in a 2018 CHAN final leg qualifier against Bafana Bafana on August 19 that Chipolopolo won 2-0 at home in Lusaka.

The duo have missed Zanaco’s last two league games in particular; the 1-1 home draw against Nakambala Leopards on August 23, and the 1-0 away win over Real Nakonde on August 23.

“Augustine has been put on 10 days treatment together with Toaster that is why we couldn’t go with them to Nakonde,” Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba said.

“The 10 days ends next Friday but the Doctor will re-examine them this Friday to check the healing process.”

Nasabata is the Zambia CHAN team first choice.

Mulenga has also played a prominent part in the CHAN qualifiers scoring the equaliser in the 2-2 away first leg draw against Bafana that kept Zambia’s qualification hopes on track.
