New Generation Party (NGP) President Humphrey Siulapwa has urged opposition politicians in Zambia to desist from tarnishing the image of President Edgar Lungu.

In an interview yesterday, Siluapwa who made reference to the controversial acquisition of the 42 Fire Tenders by Government recently said it is wrong for citizens to brand the President a thief when there is no evidence.

Siulapwa however said criticism in a democratic Governance system is tolerated but it should be done respectfully where the Sovereign Head of State is not insulted because doing so is detrimental to his image.

The New Generation Party (NGP) Leader has since implored opposition politicians to desist from playing politics of character assassination and tribalism and focus on meaningful criticism meant to develop the nation.

“The opposition politicians should desist from tarnishing the image of President Edgar Lungu” Siulapwa said

    • Mr Siulapwa, what is your point. Just sit back and do nothing about the 42 Fire Tenders.
And focus on protecting the image the President? What is your agenda as NGP.

    • SORRY Siulapwa, Lungu tarnished his OWN IMAGE long time ago when he STOLE from his widow client and was disbarred by LAZ as a lawyer.

WHY ARE YOU SUPPORTING THIS PROVEN THIEF ?????????

    • Its Lungu and his bunch of thieves that are tarnishing Zambia ;s image by constantly harassing and arresting UPND on trumped up charges.

Its entirely upto Lungu to changes his ways so that international organisations can see the good in Zambia.

    • Why respect someone that does not respect himself or the people that elected him into office?

And what image are you talking about?? The image he has is tented, and ugly.

People have tried voicing their concerns in a respectful manner, but they have not been listened to. In some cases, this had landed citizens in jail. We are just calling a spade a spade.

No amount of rigging will save Jonathan and his corrupt ministers in 2021.
      We have had enough!!!

    • lungu shredded his image when he dipped his grubby paws in that lady’s hand bag and pocketed her money. He became a thief, a lazo, sakalanyongo. Had it happened in an advanced country he would have been by now serving a lengthy prison term and relegated to a political dust bin and completely forgotten. But in Zambia bakabolala are idolized and worshiped!

    • Even late Chiluba was called a thief by the post whilst in office, there is nothing wrong and that is the reason you are opposition President, you would have joined them.

    • Agreed. If there’s a job that lungu does well, it’s tarnishing his own image. He is expert at it. When he stole his client’s money and was convicted for the crime that’s the time he should have forgotten about holding public office. He deliberately and shamelessly, like all dishonest thieves, went into politics knowing he had a tattered image.

  1. I think the president is doing a good job himself in that respect… but I agree with Siulapwa, “The New Generation Party (NGP) Leader has since implored opposition politicians to desist from playing politics of character assassination and tribalism and focus on meaningful criticism meant to develop the nation.”

  2. But what name is there to tarnish with Lungu? Kanamunungu kona ka nwa mubafu kuya kwa ReedMat Dance kwa Swaziland. Kuyo fita kandate hakayo latela meeto twalanjo twa bazwele a mishengo, ising myuuku ya mufumahali wahae apuu, kinji ku zarakela feela mwa siziba kusiya mwateni bweense ki twaa inge mulilima!

  3. Lungu has been tarnishing his image for years. He stole a client’s money and got de-registered by LAZ as a Practicing Lawyer. He has engaged in numerous corrupt deals like Maizegate,Roadgate, Firegate etc. Lungu stole the 2015 & 16 Elections. Lungu has been on a destructive path ever since he stole the Elections and started engaging in corrupt deals. Lungu’s image and reputation are tainted by his actions.

  4. Call a spade a spade . Why protect someone who has voluntarily damaged his own name , and what’s there to respect? How can you make positive changes if all you do is protect and never correct the wrongs? We can’t keep on going round in circles protecting dictators!!

  5. He is back, and you cant blame the man he has to prepare for a safe landing. You forgetting we are in Africa. Two things work well – Just say something to please the government or just say something to demean the opposition aaahhh and you are duly welcomed. Africa!

  6. This president has no image to tarnish! A dodge president presiding over a an equally corrupt cabinet will not endear himself to the people for long. To defend expenditure of $1 Million dollars is not only ridiculous, but criminal in a country where the majority of the people hardly afford three meals a day. That is not inspired leadership.

  7. LOL Zambia is never short of comedians….

    What image?

Thanks to Lungu himself, Lungu has managed to tarnish his image very successfully without help from opposition.
Ba Humphrey Siulapwa, How did Lungu acquire K21million in twelve months of his Republican Presidency?
