Empowerment of women key to enhancing economic development in Zambia-First Lady

First Lady Esther Lungu says the empowerment of women is key to enhancing economic development in the country. Mrs Lungu says she will continue to promote and empower women and the girl child in the country so that they can attain their full potential and contribute to the country’s development.

She said through the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust, she is determined to ensure that both boys and girls are involved in the country’s development process.

She was speaking at the fundraising of the Esther Lungu foundation state house golf tournament which has attracted 40 teams comprising of 150 players.

The first lady said the money raised will be channeled to uplifting the lives of the vulnerable in the country especially those living in the rural areas.

She also said Zambia has continued to receive recognition globally because of having a woman the vice president. Mrs Lungu has commended the companies that have participated in the tournament.

The golf tournament ends on Sunday.
