President Edgar Lungu has said that it was wrong for anyone to politicise the National day of Prayer, fasting and Reconciliation. The President has since urged Zambians to do self introspection and pursue reconciliation ahead of the National day of Prayers.
President Lungu said it was sad that some people want to politicise a process aimed at uniting and reconciling the nation. President Lungu said that there was need for all Zambians regardless of their political affiliation to do some soul-searching and pursue forgiveness.
President Lungu said he has opened his heart to reconcile and forgive all those that have wronged him. He said it is important for all those who are offending and insulting others to humble themselves and ask for forgiveness.
The President said this at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe when he addressed hundreds of people who welcomed him to the Copperbelt.
Meanwhile President Lungu said that he will continue embracing all Zambians including those insulting him because he is the father of the nation. President Lungu said that the fact that he cannot fight those attacking him does not mean he is weak, adding that it was s his job is to preach love, unity and take care of all as father of the nation.
And PF Copperbelt Chairman Steven Kainga appealed to the president as leader of the Party to support Coperbelt retain its status. Mr Kainga said the party needs the President’s support to strengthen the party. He said the Copperbelt is intact despite a few problems here and there.
Meanwhile Coperbelt minister Bowman Lusambo appealed to President Lungu to compel all Major contractors implementing projects on the Coperbelt to give 20 percent of their works to Local Contractors.
Mr Lusambo said most of the Contractors are not adhering to this policy and urged the President to intervene.
The president who is on a two-day working visit to the Cooper belt is accompanied by information minister Kampamba Mulenga, Mines minister Christopher Yaluma, Infrastructure minister Ronald Chitotela and Livestock minister Michael Katambo.
Others are health minister Chitalu Chilufya and Presidential affairs minister Freedom Sikazwe.
The event is already politicised by virtue of having been decreed by a politician.
