Opposition UPND President Hakainde Hichilema yesterday morning held private talks with visiting Amnesty International Secretary General Salil Shetty, Regional Director Deprose Muchena and Research Consultant Southern Africa Lloyd Kuveya at his residence in Lusaka, Zambia.
Mr Hichilema described the talks were mutual and centered on a wide range of issues surrounding good governance and well being of the nation.
He said issues of human rights, rule of law, constitutionalism, freedom of assembly, fundamental human rights and liberties also topped the private talks.
Mr Hichilema said, “We also showed the delegation how the State Police brutally damaged our house on 10th April, 2017 while forcing their way into our private home.”
“We stated that we have never declined any Police summon and court orders and that the 10th April, 2017 raid by the Police was peculiar and reasons for such an act can only be known by themselves(Police). We remain committed to ensuring a great Zambia for all.”
