Nchanga wins Shamujompa’s case in 5 club mess

The FAZ Player Status Committee has ruled in favour of Nchanga Rangers in the controversial transfer of Zambia defender Isaac Shamujompa.

The FAZ Players Status committee chaired by Steven Lungu on September 17, 2017 declared valid Shamujompa’s outright purchase from amateur side Intersport of Kabwe despite the entire episode fraught with irregularities.

Shamujompa’s ownership has been the subject of debate that has seen five clubs all claiming to have a stake in the defender.

They are Intersport, where Shamujompa began his career in 2011, Kalulushi Modern Stars whom he joined from the latter on loan in 2014 and Nchanga Rangers, who claimed to have bought him from Modern Stars in 2016.

Others are Power Dynamos, who bought him from Intersport on July 5, 2017 for K90,000 and Buildcon who claimed to have purchased the player from Nchanga Rangers for K130,000 earlier on June 28, 2017.

In their ruling, the FAZ Status Committee said that through its investigations found that Nchanga’s dealings with Intersport for the player were in order but again littered with irregularities.

FAZ found that Intersport had not acted in good faith after attempting to reverse the permanent transfer of Shamujompa to Nchanga in June after returning the final K50,000 instalment of the K70,000 fee.

According to the FAZ Status Committees findings, Intersport alleged that Nchanga had not promptly fulfilled their transaction in the K70, 000 transfer over two instalments.

Intersport has also been found guilty for demanding a transfer fee as an amateur club when they only qualified to collect a developmental fee until Shamujompa’s 23rd birthday.

The Committee also found Kalulushi guilty of attempting to illegally sell a player they did not legally own to Nchanga and that both clubs were not sincere in their dealings.

The Lungu Committee also found Nchanga guilty of signing Shamujompa as a new player by registering him as Issacc Shamujompa and not Isaac Shamujompa after discovering the defender was not a Kalulushi player.

Kalulushi has now been banned from signing players on loan for one season while Nchanga officials involved in that transaction will be sanctioned and that the former should refund the latter of any money they received over Shamujompa’s transfer.

Meanwhile, Power’s deal with Intersport has been nixed because Nchanga had completed their financial obligations to Intersport over Shamujompa’s transfer.

Buildcon’s deal too is null and void because Nchanga did not inform the player of their intentions to sell him to the Ndola club and was in breach of clause 17.2 of his contract with Nchanga regarding consent over any transfer dealings.

“We urge Nchanga Rangers, the owners of the player,Buildcon and Power Dynamos as parties that have expressed interest in the players to be magnanimous in any future dealings in the player,” Lungu stated.
