National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) has disclosed that three toll stations are expected to be commissioned in Western Province by June this year.

NRFA Public Relations Manager, Alphonsius Hamachila said the agency has put up three simplified toll stations which include Mweke Toll station on Kaoma-Mongu road, Tapo station on Mongu-Kalabo road and one at Seyi Bridge on the Senanga-Sesheke road.

Mr. Hamachila stated that the toll stations under construction are simplified versions which will only have a small control room and a barrier because of the low traffic on the respective roads.

He further said the money that will be collected from the toll stations will be used in maintenance of roads.

Meanwhile, Senanga District Commissioner Vivian Mubukwanu has expressed happiness over the putting up of a toll station in Senanga district as it will provide employment to the local youths.

Mr. Mubukwanu said the toll stations in the province will help generate revenue to be used in renovating main roads that are currently in a bad state.

    • I have traveled world over. Never seen these “commissioning” outbreak.
Anything, even a water well is “commissioned” by president and charge the poor.

    • There are no industries in western province and cash is very limited. Putting restrictions to movement is a punishment & retrogressive.

Give the people the 1,5 million jobs NOT taxes, toll gates & unsustainable debt.

In other countries, there is ALWAYS an alternative road besides the highway with toll gates so that those without toll money can avoid the toll gate.

    • if u think zambians are docile ask Chiluba ( oh, u cant..he dead) . ask RB and u will see. zambians are looking and waiting. when time comes…they will vote..zambians reach a point where they vote to get some one out and not that the incoming person is necessarily better ( note. the use of necessarily).

  1. “Mweke Toll station on Kaoma-Mongu road, Tapo station on Mongu-Kalabo road and one at Seyi Bridge on the Senanga-Sesheke road.”

Really laughable these foools have got carried away with these toll stations…do not you know that you are charging people twice for the roads they already pay road tax..I mean how do you simply mount a toll station and start charging people.
Zambians wake up from your docility this is not how its done!!

    • Toll Road is self-explanatory…its a shortcut road , you can not simply mount a Toll Gate on Lusaka – Mumbwa Rd and start charging motorist its theft…its like charging someone who has paid for a season ticket at a football stadium…only to be charged again at the gate.
Zambians wake up from your docility ….Haulage firms are sleeping !!

  2. Tollgates creating employment for the local youths. How? because even the toll fee collectors will come from Lusaka. (We have too many unemployed Nephews & Nieces). Madam forget it. Until our relatives are exhausted. Then we have former schoolmates, neighbours, church mates. So forget about tollgates. Create other opportunities for your local youths. Timely warning.

  3. When people complain about unfair distribution of resources they are told to just keep quite. surely, it doesn’t matter how much traffic there is going through these road. I believe a standard toll gate should apply everywhere regardless of where it is. And silly Vivian has the guts to say employment of the locals. How? Wena Vivian uikuteke. you are such a disappointment to us who have known you from time immemorial. waswabisa.

  4. They have just noticed how busy these roads have become due to the influx of traffic of trucks ferrying copper to Walvis bay via Mongu and senanga. Its not about putting up fuuny toll gates but a way of wanting to get money asap. they have thought about how long it would take them before they finish the standardised toll gates. I hate this government with a passion. thieve. Bisholi. Cursed government from the ones stealing up to their tenth generation. I hate you, period!

  5. Don’t forget to put up a toll gate between Kaoma junction and Tateyoyo. lets see how embarrassed you will be. the road is in a very deplorable state. its been like that forever. Travelling to Lusaka on this stretch is a nightmare. immediately after paying the toll gate fees you want to scandalise people. Not wishing you any well. I pray that you never see peace. you are your families. Never!! Steal now and enjoy but remember, poverty should follow you for the rest of your lives. As soon as these thieves leave office, all what they stole will leave them in the Mighty name of Jesus. Fire unto you. It shall surely come to pass. So bitter I am.

  6. Western Province is changing because the natives have realised we can’t keep people away from other parts of Zambia and refuse to give land to them for development. One Zambia One Nation! I am proud of you Western Province! Soon the province will be like the rest! Do not let the spoiler spoil your ambitions!

  7. Someone needs to challenge this govt ..this is daylight robbery …..Bus operators and haulers you can not be paying subscription to your association when they just watch the govt steal money from their members.

  8. It will be a joy for residents of mongu and other areas in the western provice tohave at least to industries that can employ 4000 to 6000 people and then the toll gates
