Northern Province Minister Brian Mundubile has challenged the media in the region to carry out investigative reporting on acts of corruption in order for culprits to be prosecuted.

Mr. Mundubile said the media, as a fourth estate, has a critical role to play in combating corrupt practices in society.

ZANIS reports that he said this at a media briefing held at his office in Kasama district.

Mr. Mundubile observed that the fight against corruption cannot be left to government institutions alone but all Zambians must get involved.

He expressed concern that corruption has penetrated various institutions in the public and private sectors.

Mr. Mundubile said if it is left unchecked this can derail national development as resources meant for projects may not be utilized prudently.

And Mr. Mundubile disclosed that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is doing a lot to fight corruption in the country.

He urged Zambians to develop confidence in the ACC in order for corrupt practices to be rooted out of society.

Mr. Mundubile further said government will look into the shortage of human resource at the ACC regional office in Kasama in bid to strengthen the work of the Commission in Northern Province.

  1. Journalists are baited into lucrative government and diplomatic posts; the rest are set running from unregulated, unrestrained bloodthirsty cadres. So if it isn’t the party in government covertly shutting up journalists it is the party cadres doing the foot work. You have established such a difficult terrain for journalists and yet you can dare speak like that. Awe mwe…

    • Zambian journalists would rather follow politicians around & go wherever they are because they’re given an allowance at the end of the day and then even accompany them abroad and then even book at same hotel and then even ntwenu-kane and then given tu-poto in embassies.

They don’t get such privileges by reporting that patients are sleeping on the floor at UTH.
      Lousy douche-bags.

  2. Investigative journalism is what we need in Zambia , not the nonsense we read about where some disgruntled politicians make unsubstantiated allegations against the governments and our media publish it as news without making any effort to investigate the veracity of the claims.

Such information from these politicians should just be used as a tip. The media should investigate the claims and ask those accused to give their side of the story. Only after you have covered all the corners and are satisfied that the report is true, that’s the time you publish the story.

    • You need investigative journalism yet you have killed it all…when the ones that are still around do their work with evidence like those ZANACO statements of the US trip the response from govt is always giving half baked answers like that is fake.

That’s proper investigative journalism.

  4. The Mukula export saga, malawi maize gate scandal etc were brought to light by brilliant investigative journalism but nothing has come out it so far. The ACC in my view is functionally defunct particularly when it comes to corruption involving the big fish.
The Northern Province Minister Brian Mundubile probably can shade light to us on the outcome to these reported corruption cases otherwise this is an exercise in futility.

  5. The media is intimidated. No access to information. Journalists are threatened day in day out. The environment is hostile. No press freedom. Then you expect investigative journalism as if your propaganda ZNBC can even run investigated stories. What a country.

  6. Yaba! Ba chilolo I’m sure the story should say
“Northern Province Minister Brian Mundubile has challenged the media in the region to carry out investigative reporting on Selected acts of corruption.
The media has already investigated corruption between Mswati and Lungu and with Dora:s deals and you haven’t praised them

  7. Most journalists save under slave conditions, especially those in the private media. Their preoccupation is how to get the next meal. Don’t you see how they scramble for food and drinks at functions, no wonder they all gather in multitudes at the same event. They can’t have the courage to follow sensitive stories in such circumstances

  8. Which country are you living in? Those zanaco statements, which you keep referring to time and time again, we’re dismissed by the bank itself as “doctored documents ” which were never issued by the bank. In fact, the bank pointed at Various errors on the forged document as a poorly done forgery. Only gullible people get excited about fake documents being produced by a foolish Larry mweetwa in his London bedroom.
