The Lusaka High Court has set June 5th as date for hearing an application by movers of the impeachment motion to halt proceedings in matter where two Lusaka residents have sued the state over the decision by the speaker of the national assembly to table president Edgar Lungu’s impeachment motion.
The application to the court was made by Mazabuka Mp Garry Nkombo and Roan Mp Chishimba Kambwili.
The duo want the court to suspend the proceedings pending determination of an appeal against the high court’s decision to throw out their application for joinder to the case.
On May 24th High Court Judge Annessie Bobo refused to join the duo to the matter where the impeachment motion has been challenged in Court on grounds that they do not have sufficient interest to warrant them being joined to the case.
In an affidavit in support of summons to stay proceedings pending appeal the Mr Nkombo and Mr. Kambwili contended that their appeal has high prospects of succeeding.
The law makers say the issues raised in the impeachment case are of a national character and need to be dealt with bearing in mind the larger interest of the nation.
They further stated that the applicants will not suffer prejudice if the court stays the proceedings pending determination of the appeal.
I advise UPND to concentrate on mobilization and also push for amendments for free & fair election system.Its not about LUNGU infact am 90% sure ECL will not stand in 2021, bcoz now the opposition is just concentrating on destroying ECL & if you notice all strategies of bringing him down are failing , corruption song, Bemba proverbs from neckless CK, and now impeachment (forcing ECL to resign like ZUMA), ala tafyabombe. The best thing is for HH is to convince the Zambians that he will do much better.So HH use your strategy skills you learnt from your masters degree not lyonse ni nfyo nfyo…

Absolutely, right. That is my call too. In fact, no one should be excited with such hearing, we all know the Impeachment case is all about tarnishing PF and ECL image to International World. But it’s not solving any issue, as this guy is in until 2021. I keep saying politically, there is nothing that is going to happen until the Court makes a final decision on ECL Eligibility for 2021. Zambians have proved to be docile, given their inactivity around the scandals surrounding ECL in the past few weeks. I don’t think there is anything that will move them to act. FIKAISOVA fyeka Fyeka mentality. So opposition instead of reshaping and taking advantage of such cases to build their case for 2021, they are dormant or chasing petty cases.
If only u had a bit of knowledge what rule of law and constitutionalism mean, u will realise the good service upnd is doing to zambia!

Most of these court issues are not helping anything at all. Just a waste of time. Kambwili has no credibility and anyone associating with creates doubts in the citizenry.

Yesterday HaJJ and HaSpaka confirmed that “Chitalu is a thief!” However, the duo and other HaTribes union left out the co-starring loser Hichilema as a thief too! “Support your local team mudala!” If Chitalu is a thief then the premise covers HH as well. Yes he is too!
Sharon, I am very sure if I told you that the idea of having different ethnic groups and diverse tribes was originated by God would say no. Because you sound like one of those people who have been taken by the deceit of the devils to believe than one tribe is better than the other.
Now let me advise you, be objective especially when you write on a platform like this one. Do not allow the devils to use you in spreading tribal hatred because of politics.
