Fans demand better show from Chipolopolo at 2018 COSAFA Cup

Soccer fans in Kitwe want the Chipolopolo to improve as they face Madagascar in Wednesday evening’s COSAFA Cup semifinal match in Polokwane.

Zambia sweated to eliminate Namibia via penalty shootout after a goalless draw in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

“Zambia is not playing well. We should not be struggling at the COSAFA Cup because we are former African champions,” a fan commented in the town centre.

“Strikers failed to do a good job against Namibia. We need to win the next game,” Chanda Mweemba said.

Madagascar ejected hosts South Africa at the quarterfinal stage.

“The defence is fine and the midfield is fine but strikers must improve,” Peter Phiri noted.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe will face Lesotho in the second semifinal also on Wednesday.

    • But all Namibian says Zambia were a marvel to watch.
      Why always want to complain?

  1. Please get serious with football for once: Recruit a foreign coach and put the football house in order. We used to field a junior or team B in the Cosafa and we would still win big, but now a full-fledged Zambia national team is struggling even to make an impact in this sub-standard Cosafa chipantepante cup, why???

  2. James, that’s not a full fledged Zambia national team but thats not an excused for the performance displayed in the game against Namibia. We were luck to go through. I think our frontline didn’t come to the party. Sate Sate owes us a better performance after people complain that he is always overlooked. Having said all you must note that teams have improved especially Namibia. They have beaten us recently. Thumbs up again to Sabatha. I think he is getting better

  3. Namibia has beaten us in the recent past because our team has not improved since 2012. We should recruit a qualified expatriate coach for Zambia to make impact otherwise we will just be going round circles with these local coaches.

  4. How do we expect strikers to score at national assignments when they fail to score at league level? The score line at league level is always 1-0 or 1-1 and top scorer at the end of the season for the Zambian players would be 6-8 goals. This failure to score is translated to nation team level. Strikers should improve their scoring at club level.
