Shepolopolo have avenged their brothers’ 2018 COSAFA Cup defeat by qualifying to the 2018 Women’s AFCON tournament after a beating Zimbabwe away at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on Sunday.
Shepolopolo beat Zimbabwe 2-1 to finish 2-2 on aggregate and win on away goals rule.
Zimbabwe beat Shepolopolo 1-0 in the first leg played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka last Wednesday.
Rutendo Makore put Zimbabwe ahead in the 45th minute to score her second goal against Shepolopolo after netting the lone goal in Lusaka.
But Helen Chanda equalized in the 54th minute before Barbara Banda clinched the winner in the 87th minute.
It was Banda’s third goal in the qualifiers and ends as Shepolopolo’s top scorer in the race to Ghana.
Meanwhile, it is the first time Zambia have qualified ahead of Zimbabwe after the latter beat them to the 2016 tournament.
