British High Commission to Zambia Fergus Cochrane-Dyet has described the work of the Zambia Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) as admirable.
Speaking after a group of EU Ambassadors paid a courtesy call on the FIC Director Mary Tshuma at her office, Mr Cochrane-Dyet said it is important that the Zambian government takes seriously allegations of corruption.
He said the allegations raised by the FIC are alarming and should be taken seriously.
“Admire work of Zambia Financial Intelligence Centre. Met DG Mrs Tshuma with EU colleagues to discuss alarming 2017 trends report. Essential Zambian Govt takes Financial Intelligence Centre allegations seriously. Evidence of serious corruption,” Mr Cochrane-Dyet tweeted.

And Chilufya Tayali says it is good that President Edgar Lungu has finally given audience to FIC Director Mary Tshuma.
He said it is also commendable that Mrs Tshuma has beenassured of her protection from people like Andrew Ntewewe, Jonas Zimba, Isaac Mwanza, Hobday Kabwe among others who were attacking her work.
“I will not waste time analyzing the statement written by Amos Chanda, but it is clear that, President Lungu has gotten the message though he will not act since the appropriate law enforcers are the ones to act,” Mr Tayali said.
“I agree with Edgar Lungu that he can’t act on the report of the FIC but he has to make sure that the law enforcers take action. However, we know how these institutions are compromised and inept.”
He added, “Anyway, going foward I hope to see President Lungu taking keen interest in the works of FIC and where necessary, engage the institution, instead of unleashing people like Ntewewe to attack FIC. Congratulations to all the NGOs that stood
FIC and Edgar Lungu are doing a commendable job should have been the message.
This shows the whole of us here in the UK are VERY happy with the current Government. You would be a f0ol to wish PF doesn’t form Government in 2021.

The FIC is simply a cut and paste of what the international community has known for years and provided some of that information to FIC because they see all financial transactions of all politicians in the world. These local banks can never transfer money abroad without involving the major international banks controlled and monitored by the main players on the international stage like EU, UK China and USA.

The report can do better, mention names of people and corporates that are involved, that way your report will have substance. Just reporting BIG numbers and making wild and general allegations won’t help but bring about un necessary alarm. ACC needs to move in and work with FIC and bring the culprits to book. That’s the more reason this body was set up.

Meaning, the UK government has given a massive vote of confidence in the works of the Zambia Financial Intelligence Centre, meaning the UK government is alive to pertinent issues and serious allegations of corruption findings by the FIC, meaning the UK government wants drastic action taken against these findings and the people mentioned in the report, meaning the law should take its full course on the culprits who are presumed innocent until proven guilty, meaning it’s a diplomatic way by the UK government to show its displeasure about the report by way of praising the works of FIC as admirable, meaning the UK government will closely monitor what will become of this report to its logical conclusion, meaning justice must be seen to be effectively done, meaning let’s see how this unfolds…
The EU diplomats read the signs when the PF rats were attcking FIC for telling the truth and exposing corruption……the PF rats don’t want anyone exposing their stealing and were lining up condemning to have FIC defanged……what lungu knows is that the EU and other western countries provide up to 20 % of Zambias budget and more in other aid……they don’t want to see their money being stolen….
The diplomats endorsing FIC is a clear warning to the PF rats to leave FIC alone , the moral of the story is if you don’t want to be exposed , don’t steal….

When do you hear zambia high commisioners comments on issues that they get up to in the racist countries? Yes zambia has its corruption issues, but let us zambians push for solutions.
