Fire has swept through club Vegas annex in Lusaka’s Longacres area reducing properties worth millions of Kwacha to ashes.
According to some eye witnesses the fire started around 10:00 hours and immediately the fire fighters rushed to the scene to try and quench the fire.
And Minister of Presidential Affairs Freedom Sikazwe who rushed to the scene says there is need to retrain fire brigade officers so that they learn to execute their duties professionally.
Mr Sikazwe said he is disappointed that a fire that broke out during the day became a challenge to put out.
And inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja who was also on site said the police will do everything possible to established the cause of the fire.
Zambia must seriously consider sending terrorists to places the Flying Squad on the Copperbelt once used to send criminals to. They brought peace back to Ndola and CB. Let’s try ’em.
The reason for the fires is simple, the PF govt does not pay attention to fires standards. When is the last time buildings in Lusaka were inspected for fire safety. When have you ever seen a fire drill at an office block. Secondly as PF minister Sikazwe acknowledges, the Fire Marshalls are poorly trained and ill equipped. Edgar told us he had no vision and we still went ahead and elected him, we made the bed, now we have to sleep in it!
The reasons for these fires are quite obvious to anyone with a brain.
Let us recap.
These fires are ONLY happening on prime land.
These fires somehow ALWAYS manage to gut the entire place.
The fire trucks they corruptly bought to tackle such fires are INADEQUATE for these small-time fires.
These fires only started after Lungu came into office.
Contracts to rebuild gutted infrastructure are awarded to the Chinese.
Can you see the pattern Zambians? There are NO coincidences.

The government and the business community in Zambia need to invest in CCTV (security cameras). Put security cameras everywhere in the cities. They’ll help you catch the culprits, and deter others who may be thinking about committing arson. Of course not all fires are caused by arsonists. Security Cameras, nonetheless, help immensely with investigations. And if a fire is caused by arsonists, and you catch them, send them to prison for 30 years, to deter other would be arsonists.

This is not bad news. A night club burning though sad is very welcome, some things are a blessing in disguise. These evil establishments erode the morals of young Zambians. Let a trading spot be built to replace this eyesore.

So now it’s just the news of fires????in Lusaka? These fires are bringing Zambia even poorer as it was. And those who are behind the causes of the fire must be very heartless. As Zambians, we always cry for the better Zambia, but those with no future plans for this nation are busy bringing the country down. And if these fires are do to political reasons, then forget that there will be a political party that will develop Zambia. Zambians let’s use our senses to know what is right and wrong to ourselves.
All institutions including markets, night clubs etc are supposed to be inspected by the fire dept. before being issued a licence to operate but because of political patronage these rules are now being overlooked and hence the result of this fires.
The same inspectors are corrupt and politically aligned to PF.

Corruption starts from the president to the cleaner and messenger. Corruption has been embedded in the Zambian culture. Immediately you enter Zambia either from the border point or airport, you realise that corruption is condoned here . Everyone wants to eat something from anyone. Worst in public institutions, even to get a stamp certification one has to bribed. Unfortunately it will remain like this for decades to come until we have a leader who will realise the damage caused by corruption.
