Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has reported President Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front (PF) to the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) on allegations involving money laundering activities and the Presidential Empowerment Fund.

The Roan MP says this follows the extravagant and opulent nature of campaigns launched by the ruling party on the just ended by-elections in some parts of the country.

The NDC consultant has become third among those who have castigated the ruling party, for the money it has spent on campaigns.

Mr. Kambwili has further squashed defence by the party that campaign funding has been coming from well wishers , stating that he had been a senior member of the ruling party, and membership monthly contributions cannot amount to the resources the party used during campaigns.

He accuses the ruling party of receiving money from Chinese companies which have contracts with government, a move he says is illegal and should be investigated.

Further, the Roan MP has requested DEC to investigate the Presidential empowerment fund, which he describes as President Lungu’s Slush fund akin to one maintained by former president Frederick Chiluba during his reign.

Mr. Kambwili claims that the huge sums of money under this fund are not provided for by any legal authority.

The Roan MP arrived at the DEC officers around 14 hrs this afternoon, and submitted his report to the Dec commissioner.

Meanwhile the Patriotic Front says it is not shaken by Mr. Mr. Kambwili’s report, saying he should be the least to talk about money laundering as he is a potential jail bed following his corruption cases that are currently in court.

Party Media director Sunday Chanda, tells Q News that it is because of well wishers and innovative undertakings that the party is where it is today and not Mr. Kambwili’s alleged money laundering activities.

He says the NDC consultant should stop wasting the commissions’ time and resources over petty matters.

He says it is not the PF’s fault that Mr. Kambwili has failed to fundraise and manage the NDC.

    • People concerned must explain especially manyengwe Mwansa !!This is serious. The nation must know those well wishers in black and white twapapapta. And hands off CK.

    • AT LEAST HE HAS TAKEN A STEP!
      =======================
“BRAVO” CK LETS SEE WHAT DEC WILL DO. I HOPE YOU HAVE FACTS.
A peace from Sunday claims envy and jealous.

“He says it is not the PF’s fault that Mr. Kambwili has failed to fundraise and manage the NDC”
Sorry CK but its tough being opposition.
But this one is mind blowing:
“he (CK) should be the least to talk about money laundering as he is a potential jail bed following his corruption cases that are currently in court.” Sunday seems to suggest that odds are against you in court.
I am anxious to see DEC’s next step here.

    • I am not about this, maybe Kambwili should have reported ACC to Ba Edgar.
It’s just a way of weakening and risking ACC.

    • “Innovative undertakings”. Does he mean creative ways of doing things. Please explain to the Zambians were the money is coming from instead. Its simple show the people of Zambia an auditable trace of the money and let independent third parties audit.

    • The moment you hear people talking about “navigating”, “Social mobility “, “Innovative undertakings”, “Uubomba Mwibala Alya Mwibala”, just know…..
      And doesn’t deserve further comments.

    • It is not the first time PF has put up such extravagant and opulent nature of campaigns, even during the time CK was in PF this still happened. What has changed now ba CK, just bcoz you are out of the party you now say it’s extravagant? . Have some principles my man, if some thing is bad, it is bad even when you belong to that party.

That said, PF has a large number of followers/members and I think PF are good marketers and innovators. Wining is about strategy, until other parties do better in their campaigns, PF will be wining. In short stop complaining and go back to your drawing boards and re strategize.

  1. People concerned must explain especially manyengwe Mwansa !!This is serious. The nation must know those well wishers in black and white twapapapta. And hands off CK.

  2. I think it’s just a waste of time by Mr Kambwili to report to DEC even if he can have solid proof. We all know how toothless DEC and above all they can’t investigate a sitting president because he has immunity. If they can’t investigate a mere cadre how about the president himself. He could have just used his energy to conduct a rally and bring out those issues just like king cobra used to do who was never tired of addressing the crowd

  3. Thieves these PF people are …..selling the country to Chinese for campaign funds so they stay in power.

  4. Kambwili knows that a ruling party has more than enough well wishers. He’s just discovered that it’s not possible for him to win an election that easy. And why consultant instead of just president?

  5. By the way people are fed up with these allegations as a means of campaign. Come up with another strategy.

    • People are also fed up with dogs like you who claimed to be upnd then non partisan and then now are clearly pf bootlickers. We know dogs like you have no integrity and just move with the wind. Do you want to start your campaign to ban me again or face me like a man. Iwe ka mbanje khakis

    • So in Namwala dogs walk on two legs? Whatever you call me won’t change my opinion of HH. Integrity is relative and I have a lot of it. Maybe I’ll vote for Sakwiba if he retakes his presidency of Upnd , but HH no? Going back to dogs, dogs don’t vote and maybe that’s why your party is losing because it’s campaigning among dogs.

  6. Its his civic right to report and even effect citizens arrest on thieves. Everyone has the duty to report illegal activity.

    • Yes but we should also see them for who they are – Kambwili, a frustrated buffoon who has realized that he owns no ounce of popularity and nobody knows his party after all these months. He is surprised at how well-organized PF is without him and now he comes with up with the circus of reporting the President to the DEC — what a joke of a politician.

    • it is you who is a joker for thinking that a sitting president cannot be reported for corruption. it is this type of thinking that has promoted the growth of corruption and theft in this poor country of ours. If someone steals it does not matter what status some one has in society. if they break the law or some one has a reason to believe they are engaging in illegal activity then it is right that they are reported and investigated. When kambwili was been reported you did not see anything wrong with it. what makes that ka lungu any special. if anything the chap has a lot to answer for.

  7. Ba lusaka times are you already trying to moderate me. what are you scared of? you chaps cannot win anything fair and clean. it is same with elections. a bunch of thieves

  8. Is there a brain in Kambwili’s head? Being a politician isn’t a justification to embark on brainless escapades. He knows that a sitting President can’t be investigated, does it make sense to bang on a closed door? If he has evidence of corruption he knows where to take it, and it’s not DEC. Do these people even read the Law? This kind of opposition won’t take this country anywhere. Garry Nkombo also wants to walk from Mazabuka to Kafue, we have lunatics in our midst

  9. Kambwili is simply saying when I was one of you, I new were we got the money from. Now that I have been denied to eat from the same source this now corruption.

  10. Horrible Kambwili, it’s like you know very well what goes on in government and PF since you were part of government and a toxic member of PF. Just tell the people of Zambia how PF and HE managed to run the campaigns. Otherwise, your outbursts may be taken as meaningless gongs!

  11. Ck used to belong Pf so he is quite alive to the way Pf used to organize money. Sunday also knows gimmick, that is the reason why he is trying silence Ck.

  12. Who are those “well wishers”?? in order to silence the allegations, PF must be transparent about who the well wishers are that are helping them with funds..am sure ck knows best..if the media percieves him to be as corrupt as they put it, surely they should know that a thief can spy its own kind…hence the saying, “it takes one to know the other”

  13. Anything from Kambwili is not worth a comment by me, unless he admits to us publicly that he is a thief too.

  14. Similar to h.h, unless he admits that he is leader of upnd on account of his tribe. And that no convention means he is a dictator. Etc etc

  15. While Lusaka Times is not publishing you details, you expect the PF to parade those who sympathize with them? That is mental illness. When exposed they shall be intimidated by the opposition and indeed who ever forms Government. Someone once said he made his money using a bright idea but to date we do not know that idea and its brightness. It could be stolen money. Since money cannot talk, it cannot equally speak for itself.

  16. Bali kusepa fye boy.Had it been your party spending more than the PF would you have reported yourself to the ACC.Abash mediocre politics

  17. How does CK expect DEC to investigate the appointing authority? That is like shooting self in the leg. The President enjoys immunity from prosecution under our current constitution. The whole thing is like trying grow hair on an egg.

  18. Ck is simply helping the people to know what goes on,if he store may someone come on board and sue him like he has done. Let us move from those times when people used to whorship the leaders, leaders must be responsible.Leaders must be humble and not proud.
