Bowman Lusambo raids Kafue Districts, impressed with the professionalism by civil servants

Share

Lusaka Province Minister Hon Bowman Lusambo says he is impressed with the levels of professionalism exhibited by officers working in different government departments and institutions in Kafue district.

And Hon Lusambo says he will continue paying impromptu visits to key government departments and institutions in an efforts to get first hand account on the level of service being delivered to the people.

Meanwhile, the Lusaka province minister has directed the Kafue District Educational Board Secretary -DEBS- to ensure that Teachers who have received letters of transfer honour those transfers and take up their new posts.

In a statement made available to Smart Eagles today, Hon Lusambo who is also Kabushi member of Parliament emphasized that officers in the civil service should change their laissez-faire altitude towards work and apply their work ethics associated with the private sector.

“This morning I paid a surprise visit to selected government departments and institutions in Kafue as part of my continued tours to check on the performance levels of civil servants.

“I visited the Kafue District Hospital, the office of the Kafue District Education Board Secretary, the District Administration and the Kafue District Council Offices. The tour was very successful as it enabled me to get a first hand appreciation of how we are serving our people.

“I arrived at the District Administration before 08 Hours and was pleased that almost all the officers had reported for work and were already on their work stations. This is encouraging and should be emulated,” stated Hon Lusambo.

“There is no way public service workers can continue reporting late for work and knocking off early without applying themselves fully. The idea of taking advantage of government by some officers should come to an end.

“I urged the DEBS in Kafue to ensure that Teachers who have received Letters of Transfer honour those transfers and take up their new posts, resisting transfers frustrates government programmes.

“I will continue paying impromptu visits to key government departments and institutions in an efforts to get first hand accounts on the level of service we are delivering to our people.”

    • At least this cadre Bowman is doing his job, and shaking up the system.

The work culture is Zambia should change for the better, and these small measures by this minister can help to achieve that.

I however challenge this minister, and his colleagues to continue these checks and balances throughout their tenure.

Lungu should have taken the lead on this as a matter of government policy. But you can not mention Lungu, and work, in the same sentence.

    • My fellow Zambians, can’t you see that there is a need of us to work up and stop politicizing anything? Let give a credit where it should be given. The honourable minister is doing everything possible to ensure that civil servants improve on time management so that they can serve us on time, to my worry, you are busy insulting him, where is that going to take us surely as a country? And before you drop a comment, ensure that you have got data and be logic…it’s not just talking any how guys. Long live honourable Bowman Chilosha Lusambo. God bless you and grant you with knowledge.

  1. Your friends are working, whats the minister doing? Inspecting!!! That’s not your job. You are wasting time running your a$$ up and down instead of doing something sensible!!!!

    • Gullible Zambians think this is hardwork this is cosmetic like Mutati’s curb on abuse of GRZ vehicles immediately the Minister is gone its back to square one.
Instead of proposing log-in and check-in ICT systems linked to payroll and flexible hours to Cabinet Office so Civil Servants can be monitored easily by the touch of a button…he is busy driving about in the morning. I mean if everyone starts at 8 that means everyone is out for lunch at the busiest time between 12 – 2…introduce flexible hours.

  2. Though this man looks like a call boy I am impressed with what he’s doing. I went to renew my NRC and arrived at 9 30hrs only to see the first action at 11 hrs an hour after the woman boss had arrived

  3. Let the dogs bark but the caravan go
Well done Bowman. And you wonder where we get votes while you insult on social media. There are no votes here even if you give 100 negative comments and insults inuabo ba sontwe. Sit overseas in your salaula oversize jackets while we work. Im proud of Bowman

  4. Bowmans Lusambo ewabako. This man is a hardworker. if Zambia had 100 of such men the country can develop at a faster rate.
Lusambo is in the category of the late Michael Sata when he was Minister without portfolio.

    Keep it up Bowmans!!!!

  5. Some ***** will have time this country because their foolish followers are as shallow as their leader. They will never see anything good. Nowondr they are struggling in life

  6. its ok to shut up jay jay (Hay Hay) if you have nothing to say. Its called swag not jackets from inheritance or salaula.

  7. This is now confusing. Yesterday DC said that MoF to start deducting money from CS who report for work late. The impression was that the late reporting was high involving many civil servants. But today we told by the minister that he was impressed with the level of professionalism in Kafue. This is confusing because ethos are part of the character called professionalism. This is so because as observed by Farant the Educationist that education is all about change of behaviour. This is the behaviour which is constructive in any way. So if the level of professionalism is high in Kafue we expect high level of responsibility which means negligible late coming component. To me the reported high level late reporting it means DC also goes for late. He is a model.
