Over 600 Unionized Zambia Postal Services Corporation (ZAMPOST), employees country wide have not been paid their July and August salaries.

National Union of Communication Workers (NUWC), general secretary Richard Mulenga confirmed the development to ZANIS in a telephone interview in Ndola today.

Mr. Mulenga said ZAMPOST is not able to generate enough revenue to meet its current wage bill which stands at around K3 million Kwacha.

He said the problem which has led to the delay is the suspension of the social cash transfer contract by the Ministry of Community Development.
Mr. Mulenga could not however, give further details on why the social cash transfer contract has been suspended stating that the Union has not been availed with the information.

He explained that the other problem is owing to the competitive nature of the products that the company is offering to the market. And when contacted for a comment over the matter, ZAMPOST Post Master General Mcpherson Chanda was not available by press time

  1. Does this organization make money? They have closed all outlets except in big towns. The Zoona and Mobil money are raking in billions while this thing wants easy money from the social transfer arrangements.

  2. The problem is not the competitive nature of the products Zampost provides. The problem is poor mangement. In thebthe grand scheme of things any product or service provided by organisations can be done by others! Even wives or husbands can be outsourced.
Zampost needs to be creative and proactive in developing products for customers and stop blaming competition.
McPherson Chanda has failed during his term in office he has employed director of operations 4 times! This is a key position and it shows you the problem with him.
How then can he pay dividends when he hasn’t paid salaries. This company is terrible just look at the complaints on thier FB page stealing mail and doing nothing about it! Lungu must sort out this mess!

  3. ZAMPOST Post Master General Mcpherson Chanda has been paid so he cant take you calls…if he didn’t get his money oh boy he was gonna answer your calls.

  4. Ba Lungu!!!!!! nizanu izo, imagine what will happen to you when you leave presidency????, nothing stays forever in this life, whatever goes up must come down.

    • Kick him out. Lungu is not omnipresent so there’s nothing he can do to redress the situation. How come Zamtel is making ends meet. Today people don’t use the Post office to transmit money because of delays and too much paper work. At one post office the guy at the counter used to give preference to people speaking certain languages so I stopped going there. Can you blame Lungu?

  5. Zampost! zampost! Zampost ! I gave them a business to bring my vehicle from Dar Es Salam and they damaged it. The vehicle had bottles of castle when I collected it from their yard. Better we sell this institution to investors. What is it that they are doing anyway? Are they really strategic?

  6. President Lungu if you don’t fire the i***** be aware that he will cost you. Remember the cry on Zampost has gone nationalwide

  7. Poor service and management that’s why customers have left them.

    On two occasions i got disappointed;

One time i sent schools materials from Ndola to Luwingu, it took close to 3 weeks to reach.

The other one i used the infamous Post Bus from Ndola(06:00 hours to Kasama. We reached Kasama the following morning after 3 am. These lessons are enough for me even if ni supporting your local team awe master…

  8. Ba President Lungu if you don’t fire the i***** be aware that he will cost you. Remember the cry on Zampost has gone nationalwide

  9. Does the ministry responsible listen to the cry of your people? Why should Zambians suffer because of McPherson? His he ka god?

  10. Hehehehe Kikikik!!!!
    Guys this is disaster, ati:

Now I can connect nicely. DFID actually cancelled the funding because the boma was not taking the cash to the poor who were actually the recipients of the funds and NOT salaries please. This DFID money went missing at post office who were entrusted to take the cash to the poor but the boma told them to use part of the money for salaries. Now that DFID has cancelled the deal wait for the next months of no pay…

  11. So they used the contract for the social transfer to pay a wage bill of K3 million wage bill? Why has the contract been suspended?

    • It’s a good move. It means these guys just sit without being innovative because cash transfer is there? Who ever decided this move deserves a pat on the back.

  12. The same ZAMPOST CADRE buying expensive cars with Chinese loans. Now they trying to use donated money to pay off loans. well , they just lost on that. Our elected officials are killing the country. buying multimillion dollar properties in Swaziland. For how long will Africa be referred to as 3rd world, with all our wealth. the biggest diamond reserve in the world is Africa, but diamond headquarter is in ANTWEB,(Belgium). Next time when you Zambians get to the polls, use your vote to tell them what you feel.

  13. The businesses is tough govt wants post offices everyware even in areas where business viability is negative 100 so profitable office’s are are subsiding for loss making offices if you in his shoes what magic can you do .See these flashy post offices govt is puting up in these new districts like muyombeb, nsama mpongwe the guy is expected to put workers to run thosr new ofices when a lot of existing poat officess have been closed it is easy when u are wstching from the teraces it is not a eazy job as it lookseswrong could have been done for example there people who were retrenched in 2015 and to date they have not been cleared meaning they still on zampost payroll even if they havee moved on and gotten a jobo immagine a bssic salary of 2900 at the time of seperation 2900x…
