Chipata has 37,000 HIV positive people

ARV Drugs

Eastern Province HIV/AIDS Coordination Adviser (PACA) has disclosed that there are over 37,000 people are living with the HIV in Chipata district.

Mr. Emmanuel Chama said the district has a cumulative figure of 37,844 people living with the virus that causes AIDS in the Eastern Province capital.

Speaking when he featured on a radio programme dubbed ‘Big Issue’ on Chipata’s Feel Free radio this morning, Mr. Chama said 27,135 people are currently on antiretroviral treatment.

He stressed the need for the remaining 10, 709, who are not yet on treatment, to access treatment services in order to suppress the HIV viral load and reduce their chances of transmitting the virus to other people.

Meanwhile, the PACA has indicated that Chipata and Petauke have recorded the highest cases on new HIV infections in Eastern Province.

He attributed this to many factors among them a huge population and the development taking place particularly for Chipata.

  1. If Bembas are thieves like Lungu said, then Easterners have Aids. Here’s the proof. My cousins are dying of HIV. This is how we enjoy our cousinship with our brothers and sisters from Eastern. Upnd you have failed.

  2. This disease knows no region. It is modern slavery. It permeates through all families and has no choice. The goodness is that it is contained through ARVs.
Africa should just start designing its own model of prevention other than depending on ARVs whose source they are not preview to. Herbal administration should be tried so as to know its efficacy. These ARVs are just there to suppress the viral load. Somewhere somehow a cure has to be found through our own resources. In 2019,there should be a great trial on our herbal resources. Otherwise, we are wasting time on relying on western discoveries for cure for HIV. We have a cure but we are not using our own resources. Resources are being taken from Africa by introduction of these ARVs.

  3. Guys slow down, over 37000! Mind you those not yet tested might double that number . This is a tip of the iceberg, with the highest prevalence of alcohol abuse in the world Zambia is headed for annihilation. I saw it when I happened to drive through that region – a high sense of materialism and recklessness in the faces of both women and girls. I said shalapo Naya ndimwina Zambia nshili wakuno. Efyo nafulumwikeko. Kikikikiki!

  4. Gosh , i thought that Lusaka was the sex capital of Zambia. Chipata girls you need to keep your knickers always up and under two tier body lock mechanism.
