Lusaka City Council Police removes 22 booths illegally placed in the CBD

Share

A team of Lusaka City Council Police today swung into action and uprooted 22 booths in the Central Business District and along Church Road.

Lusaka City Council Public Relations Manager George Sichimba said the booths were uprooted because they were planted without the planning permission of the Council.

Mr. Sichimba said the booths were illegally and wrongly placed resulting in them obstructing motorists and littering the area.

He said in a statement that the local authority has been appealing to residents intending to set booths in the city to always seek permission from the Council so that they could be guided properly.

Mr. Sichimba said the Council has identified suitable places in the city for placing of booths in an orderly manner but noted with regret that some residents still want to continue placing booths in areas of their own desire disregarding the Council’s plan.

He has since warned that booths that have been placed illegally will not only be uprooted but will also be confiscated by the Council and owners be prosecuted.

  1. Remove also some billboards, there are just too many of them and some simply obstruct the driver’s view and they are an ugly eyesight . Also remove structures built along the roads which serve no purpose. Lusaka is a very very dirty city and unfortunately the dirty Mayor cannot not see it because he is part of the filthy. If he was clean, he would unto date undertaken cleaning measures of roads, surroundings, drainages, premises etc. Everywhere you look, you only see filthy. ARE YOU PROUD OF BEEN A MAYOR OF A FILTHY CITY SAMPA ?

  2. Do they even know what CBD stands for? Zambian government is a total joke, since you’re have demolished those illegal structures, can you find those hard working men and women best alternative locations and well built buildings so that they can continue conducting their operations and earn their own money to feed their families ? I’m a very well educated Zambian living abroad but my heart is still with the people of Zambia and feel the pain and sufferings this PF government has imposed on its people.

    • Educated person leaving abroad without care of your own country. Just stay there and hopefully you come with something to show for when you’re deported back to Zambia.

    • Very well educated… talk about blowing your own horn!!
Bring back that fantastic education of yours and use it to develop the country so you can heal the pain and suffering you speak of.

  3. The Lusaka City Council is just busy sending of vendors forgetting the dirty surrounding they collect garbage after 3 weeks they don’t see that they don’t sweep the town they only know how to collect money from. Marketeer

  4. Really laughable…this boy Sampa will be kidnapped again by PF cadres who gave these people paperwork for those booths. I mean how can some mount a booth just like that….
