Digital SCT to enhance accountability

Chirundu District Commissioner, Patrick Kasambila says the newly introduced digital payment of Social Cash Transfers to the beneficiaries will enhance accountability and credibility of the programme.

Mr. Kasambila said the Department of Social Welfare is using the automated payment system called “Zambia Integrated Social Protection Information System (ZISPIS) in order to improve the delivery system.

The District Commissioner was speaking when he officially flagged off the automated Social Cash Transfer to the beneficiaries in Kapululira area, in the outskirts of Chirundu district.

Earlier, Chirundu District Social Welfare Officer, Charity Tembo outlined some of the benefits the automated payment will bring to the beneficiaries.

Mrs. Tembo explained that the system will also secure social cash transfer transactions, improved business intelligence and improved programme perception.

And some beneficiaries commended the government for improving provision and promotion of quality social welfare services aimed at alleviating poverty, reducing destitution and promoting family values.

  1. This is useless reporting. How do you not describe how the digital payment system works!? So if they will not be paid in cash any more how will the electronic payment be made? Is it into digital/mobile money wallets? Bank accounts? etc. This is essential information to include in such an article for it be worth reading
