Leaders and Community Members in Zambezi District of North-western Province have bemoaned the passing of veteran politician and freedom fighter, Rogers Sakuhuka.
The Former Cabinet Minister in the United National Independence Party (UNIP) government, has been widely described as a true patriot and a dedicated public servant.
Zambezi District Freedom Fighters Association says it is saddened by the demise of Mr Sakuhuka, describing him as a true patriot and son of the soil.
In an interview with Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) today, District Secretary, Welbert Chipopu, said the late Minister was instrumental during the country’s liberation, adding that he believed in justice, cause and sacrifice in his youth by joining the movement.
Mr Sakuhuka once served as Zambia’s Minister of Tourism, Deputy Minister of Health, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and High Commissioner to Zimbabwe.
He died at the age of 89, on October 13, 2025, at Chitokoloki Mission Hospital after an illness.
