Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo is set to arrive in Zambia on Wednesday for a three day working visit at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema.
His visit marks President Chapo’s first official visit to Zambia since taking office.
The visit, scheduled from 22nd to 24th October 2025 , aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries and expand cooperation in areas including regional trade ,peace, and infrastructure development.
The media reports that this is according to a press statement issued by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mulambo Haimbe.
Mr Haimbe said during his stay, President Chapo will hold official talks with President Hichilema at State House in Lusaka.
He noted that the two leaders are expected to review existing bilateral agreements and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Mr Haimbe stated that discussions are also likely to include joint efforts within the frameworks of the Southern African Development African Community and African Union.
“The visit underscores the warm and enduring relationship between Zambia and Mozambique and marks an important step towards deepening bilateral cooperation anchored on shared values ,mutual respect ,and collective vision for regional trade , peace and stability” Mr Haimbe stated.
Zambia and Mozambique share strong historical and cultural ties, as well as a common border.
Both nations collaborate on regional development initiatives , including the Nacala Development Corridor , a key infrastructure project that connects Zambia to the Indian Ocean via Mozambique ,facilitating trade and cross border connectivity.
President Chapo will also be the guest of honour at Zambia’s 61st Independence Day Celebrations on Friday ,24th October , before concluding his visit and departing Lusaka.
