Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Kennedy Lishimpi, has warned Kafue General Hospital staff against misconduct towards service delivery.
Dr Lishimpi, who recently visited Kafue General Hospital, found some clinics at the health facility, not open by 09:00 hrs.
He says it is saddening that Kafue General Hospital was in the habit of opening the clinics late to the disadvantage of the patients.
The Permanent Secretary was speaking during the launch of the generic service charters for level one and level two hospitals in Lusaka.
He further cautioned other health facilities in the country to desist from opening the clinics late, stating that the habit compromises efficiency.
Dr Lishimpi said health facilities are expected to open clinics early in order to serve the patients better.
He has since urged the hospital supervisors and Provincial Health Directors to ensure that they address erring health facilities.
“We are heading the Ministry of Health on behalf of the Zambian people and all of us are supposed to pay attention to the quality of services we are delivering,” he said.
He further reminded the Provincial Health Directors, Senior Medical Superintendent and Medical Superintendents to ensure that the launched service chatters are put into action.
Dr Lishimpi also stated that there is need to improve the work culture at Kafue General Hospital.
“I have singled out Kafue General Hospital but that doesn’t mean it is the only one, even other hospitals may be doing what Kafue General Hospital is doing, so let us make sure we improve,” he said
He emphasised the need for the supervisors in various health facilities to ensure quality health service outcomes.
