Hakainde Hichilema Endorsed by Copperbelt Students for 2026 Polls

Students from various higher learning institutions on the Copperbelt have endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema as their preferred candidate in the August 13, 2026 general election.

The endorsement was made during the Copperbelt Students Meet and Greet the President event held at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

National Council of Students Union (NACOSU) vice president Lloyd Nsonge told the Head of State that students across the province had resolved to back him due to the progress recorded in the education sector.

Nsonge emphasised the need for students to rally behind President Hichilema in the forthcoming elections, citing reforms and increased support to learners.

Students who spoke during the event thanked government for achievements in the education sector and questioned why the President should not be given another mandate to continue ongoing programmes.

“We are grateful to the UPND government for initiatives such as meal allowances, scholarships, and the provision of free education,” said Given Chipewo, president of the Copperbelt University Students Union.

Meanwhile, Regina Mwaanga, vice president of the Mukuba University Students Union, thanked the President for ensuring that the girl child is fully considered in education policies.

Accepting the endorsement, President Hichilema said he was overwhelmed by the show of support from the students.

He reiterated that government places high priority on improving the education sector, describing it as the backbone of the economy.

“We will continue prioritising the plight of students in all our higher learning institutions across the country for a better future and results,” he said.

Several Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament from the province and other senior government officials also attended the interaction meeting.

    • Your brain can not differentiate between the head of state and unknown thugs. The head of state possesses the right to engage with individuals wherever he travels; it is his prerogative to do so.It seems that you still believe HH is still in the opposition and not the head of state.

    • Head of state has no extra rights over citizens in a republic. Go to school and learn-not memorise-political science. Hitler, Idi Amin even Donald Trump were created by sycophants ready to justify their weird behaviors and threaten freedom seeking citizens.

    • I was a student during MMD. Noone would have dressed us up in cartoon outfits. These immature little boys will get a shock when they find no employment after graduation

  1. @Lukombo,Still an Idiot in the western world.HH is the head of state whether you like it or not.Your hatred obscures your judgment and renders you foolish. The President serves as a distinguished guest at public events organized within the Republic, which includes gatherings hosted by religious organizations like the Catholic Church.
