Acting Auditor General Ron Mwambwa said in a statement to the media that the law allows the Office to subcontract registered private audit firms affiliated with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) when it faces resource or time constraints in conducting statutory audits.
Mwambwa explained that Grant Thornton was appointed in September 2024 to audit the RDA’s financial statements for the period ending December 31, 2024, up to 2026.
He said the firm was selected through a competitive bidding process involving several private audit firms and was among those subcontracted to support audits of statutory institutions.
Mwambwa also clarified that obtaining external confirmations during audits is a routine and internationally recognized procedure used to verify financial information.
He said the process involves obtaining written confirmation from third parties to validate account balances and ensure the accuracy of financial statements in line with International Standards on Auditing.
Mwambwa emphasized that such procedures should not be interpreted as attempts to demand payments from creditors but are part of standard audit verification processes.

Does HH still have a stake in GT. Or is it now controlled by his friends?
Obviously the only choice
They also audit ZESCO even before UPND
ZESCO is parastatal and can do whatever. RDA is 100% government. If anything where’s the tender notice?
People will always have something to say irrespective of the choice you make.
Humans these days are addicted to keyboard since their brains are full of water. Auding is the right way to go especially there so many roads yet to be touched including feeder roads.
No sir. The reasons you have given are hollo and a bit amateurish. So you are saying your office should be closed because we transparency in every aspect of government contracts and transactions. Sadly ba UPND you think Zambians are dwazi. Actually it is you who are dwazi.
