Mighty win a sweet revenge for Blades – Quicksilver

Konkola Blades coach Beston Chambeshi has branded his team’s 2-0 thumping of Mighty Mufulira Wanderers as a sweet revenge for the Chililabombwe side that is seeking a pleasant ending to the Super League season.

After a scoreless first half at Konkola Stadium, Blades punished wasteful Mighty with second half goals scored by Boyd Musonda and Raphael Silwimba.

Blades capitalised on Mighty’s failure to kill off this round 29 fixture in the first half where they created numerous decent opportunities.

“It is a sweet victory,” Chambeshi remarked.” You know we lost the first leg to Mufulira Wanderers and now we have revenged, this is good for us,” he said.

Chambeshi continued:” We needed this win; we needed these points. I am happy with the way the boys reacted in the second half after not playing well in the first half. Mighty gave us a good run but we also gave them a good run and I am happy with the result.”

The experienced coach is cautious ahead of the last five matches in the campaign.

Konkola are placed ninth on the table with 40 points after playing 29 matches.

“We have remained with five games – which is fifteen points so we are not looking at the table but the teams we are going to play against. We want to prepare well and take each game with a different approach. We have to survive and finish the season on a good note. So that we can build for the next season,” Chambeshi said.

Mighty coach Lameck Banda said his players lacked the confidence to score and win the match.

“It is a very disappointing result for us. We have lost to a team that reached the go twice. We missed a lot of clear chances; we lacked composure and belief. It would have been a different story had we believed in ourselves. We were not expecting this loss,” Banda said.

Despite the loss at Konkola, Mighty maintained third position and 45 points.
