Patriotic Front Leader Given Lubinda has warned Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha that his handling of matters linked to the late former president Edgar Lungu risks exposing him to personal and institutional backlash, intensifying pressure around a dispute that continues to dominate national attention.
Lubinda’s remarks come as political tensions around Lungu’s remains remain unresolved, with competing narratives from government and opposition figures shaping public discourse. He said the Attorney General’s statements on the matter had raised concerns about how such a sensitive national issue is being communicated.
He argued that the role of the Attorney General demands careful judgment, particularly when dealing with issues involving a former Head of State. According to Lubinda, public communication on such matters must reflect restraint, legal clarity and an awareness of the wider national sentiment attached to the case.
The warning follows a series of exchanges between political actors over the handling of Lungu’s remains, with opposition leaders questioning the decisions taken and government officials maintaining that all actions are grounded in law. The continued divergence in positions has kept the matter active in both political and public spaces.
Lubinda indicated that the tone and consistency of official communication are critical at a time when the country is preparing for general elections. He suggested that missteps in handling the matter could carry broader implications, particularly in a highly charged political environment.
The dispute has increasingly moved beyond legal interpretation into political messaging, with statements from various actors influencing how the issue is perceived. Lubinda’s intervention reflects concern within opposition ranks that the matter is being handled in a way that could escalate tensions rather than resolve them.
The Attorney General’s office has previously defended its position, stating that government actions are based on established legal frameworks. However, opposition figures continue to challenge those explanations, pointing to what they describe as inconsistencies in official statements.
The issue has also drawn regional attention, with calls for dialogue and resolution outside prolonged disputes. Observers within the political space have noted that the continued exchange of statements risks prolonging uncertainty rather than moving toward closure.
Lubinda’s remarks place additional focus on the need for clarity and coherence in addressing the matter. His warning suggests that the handling of the issue is no longer confined to legal processes but has become a central political question ahead of the August elections.
With political activity intensifying, the Lungu matter remains a focal point in national discussions. The trajectory of the dispute will likely depend on how both government and opposition actors manage communication and engagement in the coming weeks.

Please Lubinda, know your lane. And remember that, your expiration date is 13th August 2026. From that, you will be added to the list of washed-out politicians.
Warning from Lubinda? The picture that I vividly recall is the hypocrisy of mourning the PF were carrying out at their offices. Clearly using ECL’s death for political mileage. They are still at it.
Praise singers have also joined the cult without knowing
You don’t even what a cult is.
Lubinda go and ask the South African police. Your are acting from a point of ignorance. This matter is in public domain. Why do you choose to ignore facts and believe falsehoods ? Stop?? venting your useless warnings on an innocent man Mr. Kabesha. Pf is where it is today because of your arrogance. Everybody knows that ecl’s body is in South African police custody. Why are you bringing in Mr. Kabesha?

Umulando ta obola
Anyway, ati umulandu taubola when Chagwa agwa na kubola kale! We now all know the family was officially told 10 months ago that HH won’t come anywhere near Lungu’s decomposed corpse but they came up with fresh conditions. For all I care, that dead crooked kelptonaniac does not deserve a state funeral, let his family deal with his stinking remains the way they seem best.
In as much as we all agree that ECL was crooked, your inhumane stance on his death is immature and un Zambian. When someone dies, tradition requires us to respect that dead person regardless of our disagreements when he was alive. No question ECL and his family were corrupt, but he was still the 6th president of Zambia, and deserves a national funeral. I hope your dead self will not be insulted by young people when your time comes. Good luck!
Bushe ili chilishilu? Who is giving amashilu phones? Tukesa sundila paluputa lwakwa HH ukomfwe ifyo ichalo chileumfwa pali ECL.
Lubinda thinks he and his gang are still the tough guys giving the “warnings”, soon will he start tearing his shirt at the night club and asking if you know him?
This is the problem when you enter into covenant with the devil. You can’t come out. Jesus is the only answer ba Easter. It’s really sad indeed not even a nga’ nga can rescue you. Mwa ona manje???
Kabesha is a tool. A bad one for that matter.
