Hosts Nkana Squash Club at the weekend won the Squash Association of Zambia (SAZ) Club Team tournament after defeating Nchanga 4-1 in a one-sided final.
The game between Zambia’s top seed, Lukumba Muchimba, and third seed, Hachi Muchaile, saw the top seed beaten.
Muchaile was entered as a guest player for Nchanga and as the top player, he was paired against Nkanas top seed Lukumba.
Muchaile, fresh from an International Olympic Committee (IOC) and World Squash Federation (WSF) U23 Development Squash Camp in South Africa, took down Muchimba 3-1 in the final.
Squash Association of Zambia (SAZ) president Felix Chilufya was impressed with the quality of the game exhibited at the tournament.
Chilufya said: “It was an exciting final, very exciting and we could see the two were going for each other aggressively. This shows the game is making good progress especially that the two are still under-23 players.
In the women’s segment, Monica Chimese took gold after beating her main rivals Chisenga Zulema and Mubanga Daudi with identical 3-0 wins and Zulema took silver after a 3-0 win over Daudi.
