Zambia in Tunisia test at CAF U23 Cup

Zambia on Saturday battle Tunisia in the two sides’ opening Group A fixture at the 2015 CAF Under-23 Cup in Senegal.

Fighton Simukonda’s side is looking for a bright start in their debut campaign at the eight-team championship that will run from November 28 to December 12 and is serving as Africa’s Olympic Games football tournament qualifier.

” We are almost ready for them and it is good they are treating us as underdogs,” Simukonda said.

“We want to collect the 3 points but a draw will be a plus but we are going for a win.”

Zambia will be without key midfielder Lubambo Musonda who will join the team after the Tunisia game on Monday on the eve of their penultimate match against South Africa on December 1.

Armenian club Gandzasar have indicated that Lubambo will be released after Sunday’s league commitment.

Simukonda, though, is still hoping another late arrival in the form of Wadi Degla striker Ronald Kampamba will land in time for the Tunisia match from his base in Egypt.

The top two winners from each group will advance to the semifinals where Africa’s top three sides from the knockout stage will represent the continent at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
