Vice President to tour flood affected areas in North western Province

kundaVice President George Kunda is today expected in Zambezi District in North-Western Province to check on the impact of floods.

The Veep is also expected to tour flood affected areas in Kabompo, Chavuma and Mwinilunga Districts and also address government’s developmental programme in the province.

Mr. Kunda’s plane is expected to land at Zambezi air strip at 09:00 hours in the morning after which he will have a briefing at area District Commissioner’s (DC’s) office Mr. Absalom Luwaile.

The Veep will pay a courtesy on two chiefs, Senior Ishindi and Ndungu of Lunda and Luvale peoples .

Mr. Kunda, who is also justice Minister is accompanied by local government Minister Benny Tetamashimba, Community Development Minister Sarah Sayifwanda and other governmental officials .

The Vice President and his entourage will be expected to visit flooded affected areas in the West Bank, and later leave for Chavuma district.
In Chavuma, Mr. Kunda will hold a public rally at freedom square.

The Vice President is on a three day official visit of North Western Province.

  1. April,that’s when ba veep wants to tour the flood affected areas,iliko trick,better say he goes for a 3 day official visit to the province,after all is going to hold a public rally.
    vima news va so viliko boring and just make one feel that pa zed nothing is taken seriously.pipo were displaced from their homes and at that time needed a hand from the central gov’t ,and here we are,so many week past that’s when ba veep want to tour the areas,for what if i may ask?.it’s better simply get reports from the local authorities instead of wasting money in the middle of the credit fimofimo.

  2. Kunda has already been to Western province were he described the flood situation as catastrophic. 80% of the crop fields both rice and maize have been flooded. But according to this man he cannot bring himself to declare western province a disaster area unless he sees what has happened in other areas. Honestly I am still scratching my head to understand this man’s logic.

  3. The veep is going there to address the rally, dont be cheated! the issue of the floods is just a scepegoat!

  4. Attorney-general Mumba Malila has said he did not approve the Memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of communication and RP Capital.
    Mr. Mumba was testifying in the tribunal probing communications minister Dora Siliya of allegations of abuse of authority.
    Mr. Malila also told the tribunal that he is not aware that the RP capital has already started evaluating ZAMTEL.
    He said that he had written to the ministry advising them that the initial MoU should be treated as a nullity but that the advice was ignored.
    He said that he had also delegated Solicitor general Dominic Sichinga to deal with the ministry but that even the Solicitor General’s advice was ignored.
    He told the tribunal that if RP capital is undertaking the work and the MoU is nullified, the Zambian government…
