Nevers MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba has observed that the Grade 12 certificate requirement for people seeking elective office will help weed out old and recycled politicians from the political sphere.

Dr. Mumba says this is the more reason why when he launched the New MMD he emphasized on the need to bring in new a crop of leaders more especially youths and women.

He says his party will give equal chances to both women and youths to contest on the MMD ticket in the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Mumba adds that the people are tired of having the same people eating in government.

He says it is therefore necessary that young people arise and take over the leadership mantle and relegate old politicians to role of giving counsel to the new entrants in politics.

    • Dr Mumba, Im sure you have heard this saying before, “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”!! Here is a question for you, can you explain why employers usually hire people that have worked somewhere before?

I wont explain both of the above. Maybe Dr Mumba can assist us. Just because the running-mate slot in PF is blocked doesnt make Dr Mumba a saint. The man has zero integrity, which is really a shame for a past Reverend/Pastor.

    • I don’t see how people who live in glass houses fits Dr Mumba s statement. Have you run out of ideas?

  1. Some party leader of a known party is strategically holding on to the presidency hoping that he can be voted zambias president. When he lose this August for the second time he will again bribe his way to 2021 and 2026 till he steps in state house.

  2. That statement does not tell the whole truth.
I fully agree with the Grade 12 minimum requirement, as it will stop us being ruled by clueless Mposamabwes, those that don’t use their grey matter, but use mindless violence as a way of proving loyalty to their leader, & getting jobs as a reward, to the detriment of national development.
However You Padre Mumba, despite possessing a form 5 certificate, ais the best example of an opportunistic recycled belly Politician, & you should not be commenting on these matters, You Muselela kwa kaba!!

    • YOU ARE A SHALLOW THINKER. IT IS A FACT THAT THE FORM TWO, STANDARD SIX AND FOUR PROVIDED BETTER LEADERSHIP AND DID A BETTER JOB OF DEVELOPING THE COUNTRY THAN THE GRADE 12 AND GRADUATES WE HAVE NOW. THEY BUILT THE UNIVERSTY OF ZAMBIA, MULUNGUSHI AND CBU. THEY BUILT MANY SECONDARY AND PRIMARY SCHOOLS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THEY PROVIDED FREE EDUCATION. THEY BUILT UTH, NDOLA AND KITWE CENTRAL HOSPITALS THEY BUILT TAZARA AND MANY OTHER INFRASTRUCTURES THAT THE GRADUATES HAVE FAILED TO MAINTAIN AND SUSTAIN. THEY SENT OUT PEOPLE FOR TRAINING WHILE THE GRADUATE ARE FAILING TO PAY MEAL ALLOWANCES. YOUR COMMENT SHOWS LACK OF SENSIBLE REASONING.

    • Mano mambulula. or whatever you call yourself, you may find that the reason those old standard 6 folk you are harping on about appeared to succeed was coz The Colonial government left functioning systems, that with time have been eroded & destroyed by mposamabwe chancers like yourself who lack analytical rational reasoning.
The pattern repeats itself throughout most of the so called “Flag Waving Independent African states” who still can’t manufacture a Button.
This is caused by employing the Illiterate Cadre, good example being Zesco.
The rot set in during U.N.I.P days.
Try kidding kids in a Candy store. I’m too advanced for you backward debunked hypothesis!

    • Please Mano Mambulula, do not use Capital Letters. We are not at war or shouting. That is pretty uncouth.

  3. Nervers is becoming irrelevant each day. And you call him a doctor? Where did he study for his doctorate? Was it not a honorary degree? No one has ever said don’t call him “doctor”. Eye apple who have achieved a lot in life never got G12 certificates. Some with G12 certificates got it dubiously like Masumba’s diploma. Go to respected universities in the West, you will find mature aged students who never had G12 certificates. You are people with dull minds who fo.o.lishly think that someone with G12 certificate is better than someone with a diploma with a G12 certificate.

  4. Nevers Mumba what I expected you to say is the G12 clause will make a lot of Zambians go to school. Instead you talk about eating. What a waste of space.

  5. Yes Sir Dr, Pastor Sekwila Mumba;
This is actually a travesty of justice. What is needed for people to run for MP position in this country MUST BE (I repeat MUST BE) a full grade 12 certificate and a minimum of Bachelor’s degree and for ministers, a minimum of Masters degree in a subject including quantitative and critical thinking and for president, a minimum of a masters and a Ph.D. in a quantitative field or better. All this grade 12 business is hogwash and I wish we could just trash the whole thing and upgrade to the qualifications I suggest. Take it or leave it.

  6. PASTOR MUMBA ARE YOU NOT A RECYCLED POLITICIAN YOURSELF? YOUR STATEMENT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. IT ONLY GOES TO SHOW YOUR LIMITED CAPACITY OF REASONING. IT ALSO GOES TO SHOW YOUR LACK OF MATURITY. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO CURE THE INADEQUACY IN THOSE WHO DON’T HAVE THE REQUIRED STANDARD OF EDUCATION IS TO ENCOURAGE TO IMPROVE THEIR LEVEL OF EDUCATION. LET US LEARN FROM OUR FIRST PRESIDENT WHO DID SO MUCH TO IMPROVE THE EDUCATION STANDARD OF HIS PEOPLE.

  7. Its not a question of weeding out recycled leadership in the Governance system of Zambia but its a question of moving with time. Zambia a@52 cannot have an MP, Councellor lacking an academic Grade12 qualification. Even my late father with no formal education used to tell us to work hard at school that the world is always dynamic. Standard 2, 6 then Grade 7 etc. used to be higher qualification in the past but today its just an eye opener. If MPs failed to ready carefully the requirement of Grade12 qualification as a requirement for one to stand for public office in parliament what more at council level? This requirement is ok and should be maintained as it make people release the importance of education. There wont be laziness when it comes to matters of education. We want to have…

  8. Nevers Mumba stole the last paragraph from Macro Student. This student stated there needs to be a blend when it comes to leadership and a transition and transfers of skills should be embraced through strategic planning. University students getting internships through the government and working side by side with politicians during their co-op. This way students can shared what they are learning in school, teach computers through learned skills at the same time learn from their elders. Ba Nevers can’t even explain it properly.
