Nkana humiliated by GBFC

Nkana’s unbeaten run ended on Saturday when they lost 3-1 away to Green Buffaloes in Lusaka while champions Zesco United drew again but the status quo was maintained in the FAZ Super Division top two.

Buffaloes dispatched Nkana to their first loss of the season thanks to goals by Sebastian Mwansa, Christopher Katongo and Diamond Chikwekwe in the 20th, 26th and 45th minutes respectively

However, both sides were reduced to ten when when Nkana goalkeeper Scott Ngokane walked first in the 32nd minute before Buffaloes defender Stephen Kabamba was red carded in the 45th minute.

Maybin Chishimba scored Nkana’s consolation in the 56th minute.

Buffaloes are 3rd on 14 points after their second successive big kill of a Kitwe giant just a week after they slayed Power Dynamos 2-1 at the same venue.

At Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe, Zesco rallied to snatch a point away to 11th placed Kabwe Warriors.

Josphat Kasusu put Warriors ahead from the penalty spot in the 50th minute but Kenyan forward Jesse Were equalised in the 60th minute to score his 9th goal of the season.

The draw came just three days after Zesco’s 100 percent league start was halted by Lumwana Radiants following a 1-1 home draw in Ndola.

Nkana stay top on 19 points, two more than Zesco from eight and seven games played respectively.

  1. local is laka, eventually more and more people will develop keen interest in the Zambian super league, it’s inevitable as I’ve personally taken a keen interest. The standard keeps improving too so kudos to FAZ. Keep up the good work.
