Chipolopolo goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene has warned that Zambia should not be underrated by their Group B rivals in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Zambia will tackle Algeria, Nigeria and Cameroon in the World Cup qualifiers.
Mweene saids being rated as underdogs in Group B will motivate Chipolopolo.
“We are in a tricky group but Zambia performs well when a lot of people have written them off. Even the teams we will be playing against like Nigeria and Algeria know that it won’t be easy to beat Zambia,” Mweene said.
Zambia faces Nigeria in the group opener on October 9 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
“We have accepted that tag of being underdogs. Being considered underdogs we would like to prove many people wrong. Knowing the way Zambia plays we will be equal to the task,” the Mamelodi Sundowns keeper said.
Mweene added:” Despite being underdogs it won’t be easy to beat Zambia.”
Zambia advanced to the final stage of the Russia World Cup qualifiers after eliminating Sudan over two legs last year.
Of course only if he (Mweene) can stop conceding silly goals
wish you all the best Chipolopolo.God is with you
Why would God choose to be with Chipolopolo and not Nigeria or Algeria or Cameroon? That’s thinking like a Zionist
No one is underestimating you and no one is calling you underdogs. It’s either you have put those tags on yourselves or you actually are!
A team that failed to qualify for the africa cup from the easiest of groups can only qualify to be called underdogs
You are called under imbwa because of your unacceptable performance. We are very disappointed soccer fans.
Get a coach a full time coach first and have some friendly matches then you can talk. Mweene , look for a team where you can be active and stop talking
It’s time for the team to be mobilized and players called into camp to start serious preparations. We want proper selection of players and only those deserving should be called. This is the time for all premier league coaches to lay aside whatever differences they may have and support the newly appointed coach Wedson Nyirenda. Its time for Zambia to parade the best and to prepare the boys in all aspects. We want morale and confidence to be high in the Camp. This is the time even for the private sector and individuals to come on board and promise hefty rewards to the boys once they beat Nigeria. We want massive support for Zambia. Levy Mwanawasa stadium should be packed to the full just like it was during “Dununa Reverse”. Start preparations Now!
Keep dreaming
I posted an article on Tumfweko but it has not been aired. There is a guy complaining that only two provinces dominate when it comes to players who are selected to the National team. He argues that selection should be done in all Provinces. Now this is wrong because players should be selected on merit. Coincidentally yes it may happen that the come from one or two regions but this should not be done on purpose. It s the duty of clubs to tap this talent so that they mature and gain enough experience at club level and prove themselves. Then from there they be selected to play in the National team. And even as as soccer fans once we identify talent lets inform supper league clubs or any club that there is a “Maradona” around. Any coach would appreciate if you toot a talented player…
The highest number of goals Zambian strikers they can score per game is 1, then go to rest & all opponents know this fact that even if Zambia scores first all you need to do is to fight for an equaliser & they will even help you to get winning goals even if playing at their home. It looks like the coaching staff are frustrated & have even removed scoring practice from training schedule because no matter how much they spend time on it the more strikers become upset. The coaches just spend time on goal keeping, defense, midfield & wings to provide entertainment then call it a day. All away games are likely to be played at night but we are busy playing league games at 15 30 hours. Gate charges are still too high as if games are being played at Konkola Stadium to attract supporters.
Mweene can’t continue playing for the national team if he is honest with himself. He was poor against guinea and no longer plays for sundowns
