Wedson names team for Nigeria showdown

Wedson Nyirenda has named his final 23-member team to face Nigeria in Ndola this Sunday with some interesting omissions and additions to the team.

In-form Power Dynamos striker Patson Daka, who has scored ten goals in all competition over the last two months for his club, has been dropped for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

However,Daka’s clubmates midfielder Fwayo Tembo, defender Lawrence Chungu and goalkeeper Allan Chibwe have made the cut.

But there is no Nkana player in the team following the axing of defender Donashano Malama.

Interestingly Meanwhile, Chibwe and Chungu were part of Wedson’s Zambia Under-17 team from the class of 2007 that also included Russian-based midfielder Chisamba Lungu and Zanaco deadball specialist Roderick Kabwe.

Zambia will host Nigeria on October 9 in a 14h30 kickoff at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in the two sides opening Group B qualifier.

Team:

GOALKEEPERS:Jacob Banda (Zesco United), Kennedy Mweene (Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa)

DEFENDERS:Lawrence Chungu (Power Dynamos), Fackson Kapumbu,George Chilufya Ziyo Tembo (all Zanaco), Simon Silwimba (Zesco United), Adrian Chama (Green Buffaloes), Kabaso Chongo (TP Mazembe, DR Congo), Stopilla Sunzu (Lille, France)

  1. Patson Daka has been dropped…in the second paragraph…but again included in the strikes list..last paragraph..! Which is which now? Ba Lt…awe sure…!

    • Iwe chickalaa just go back to school, in Dundumwezi. Read nicely. Leave LT alone

    • Munene is right iwe chi nyo cha noko, read correctly yourself. Its a contradicting story!!

    • Iwe LT reporter, you just stated in your second paragraph that goalkeeper Allan Chibwe has made the cut, but his name doesn’t appear in your team line-up; ni vyamba?

  2. Bushe bamo where did you grow up? In homes or on the streets? You can insult so publicly?

    • That is it when you stay for too long in the diaspora, you tend to miss certain words and when an opportunity presents itself, then you dont care who is reading what and just bring out them words. To some people its called insults but to some its just the way of life, nothing much in the words!! Sorry if you got so offended sir, we are born and bred on the Copperbelt, tekutemwa kwesu, thats just how we play!!
