Mansa DC calls for commencement of construction works on the Frederick Chiluba University

Mansa District Commissioner Royd Chakaba has appealed for the commencement of construction works on the Frederick Chiluba University in Mansa District of Luapula Province.

Mr. Chakaba made the appeal during the Senior Management Meeting held in Mansa.

He said the 38 hectares of land has been cleared by the sub-contractor but the main Contractor has not started the construction works several months after getting the contract and the construction site being handed over to him for works to begin.

The DC said the contract was centrally awarded in Lusaka and the relevant authorities in Lusaka should intervene in the matter so that the Contractor could come back on site and start the construction works.

Mr. Chakaba also appealed for the construction of an abattoir in Mansa District because of the increased number of butcheries in the provincial capital.

He said the butcheries were slaughtering animals without following laid down procedures because of the absence of an abattoir.

The DC said despite the matter having been discussed in several Provincial Development Coordinating (PDCC) meetings, there has been no action taken by the Council on the matter which has become a growing public concern.
