The Anti-Corruption Commission in Chipata has arrested a Purchasing and Supplies Assistant at Petauke District Community Health for Corrupt practices involving K34, 000.
Patrick Ng’andu, aged 40 of Plot Number 47 A/B, Mapepe-Chilanga was arrested yesterday and charged with one (1) count of Corrupt Acquisition of Public Property and Revenue contrary to section 34 (2) (b) as read with section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.
Details are that Ng’andu, on unknown dates but between 9th January and 19th April 2013 in Petauke, being a person employed at Petauke District Community Health Office as Purchasing and Supplies Assistant, willfully failed to comply with Zambian Public Procurement Guidelines and the Law relating to procurement when he facilitated payment of K34, 000 from public revenue to Sakalimbwe Construction for his own benefit knowing that the said Sakalimbwe Construction had not been awarded any contract to construct Nyanje A.R.T Clinic.
N’gandu has since been released on bond and will appear in court soon.
