United Party for National Development (UPND) National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango has said the UPND is ready to dialogue as it is more civil than violence.

In a statement unveiled to the media today the 7th April, 2017, Ms. Nalumango said UPND has noted the reasonable call by the Human Rights Commission on the need for dialogue among political parties especially between the UPND and the PF.

She said UPND have always called for continued dialogue among citizens and all organizations as that is the only way many challenges affecting Zambians can be addressed, adding that through dialogue even those who hold different views from the UPND some consensus can be reached and in turn achieve harmony, peace and unity in Zambia.

Ms. Nalumango was hasty to mention that the condition PF leadership is putting that they cannot dialogue until UPND recognize President Lungu as president of Zambia is just part of the problem with regard to the rule of law.

She explicated that the matter of recognition and legitimacy is still subject to the decisions in the courts of laws after the petition has been heard as provided by the constitution and other laws of the land and that should not hinder dialogue so that peace and unity can be maintained in Zambia.

“We are ready to dialogue as it is more civil than violence because this has been always our called for a continued dialogue among citizens and all organizations as that is the only way many challenges affecting Zambians can be addressed” Nalumango said

  1. Very wise woman.
90% wanted her as running mate to HH. Nothing wrong with GBM, except that he gathered so many kaponyas when he was in PF, including street currency changers like Kapyongo..

  2. Those of us driven by truth & facts are attracted to leaders who share these values. I hear UPND always referring to petition in court based on constitution. When I read art. 103 of Constitution it says petition must be filed within 7 days of declaration of winner, must be heard within 14 days of filing & decision of concourt is final. UPND petition was filed on time, UPND was given opportunity to be heard but for 14 days struggled to serve petition & call any witness or evidence etc & when 14 days were over concourt dismissed petition & declared President Lungu validly elected. Which petition is UPND talking about, why lie to supporters, why do lawyers like taking money, do they have any ethics like other professions?

  3. Wise words mama Nalumango. Problem is your leader who a few days ago called ECL a hyena, so how does one dialogue with a hyena.

    • Kinthu: Exactly the point. Issue of petition is here no there. Who said you can not dialogue when you have cases in court? By the way ECL was sworn in as President, so even if you have court cases the country has a president. UPND should conditionally accept ECL as president of the country until such a time when their court case ruling is in their favour. If UPND does not want to recognize that the country has a president, whether legitimate or not in UPNDs arena, they can not call for dialogue. They will talk to whom? As far as UPND is concerned, this country does not exist until their petition is heard. Does it mean people stop recognizing an MP when there is a petition in court? This is the first time I getting such analysis and it is confusing.

  4. lawyers have ethics. Lawyers believe the rule of law must prevail not rule of men. Let the lawyers of both parties do their work and wait for the result.
Supporters of both parties should exercise patient as the matter is justiciable concluded. A precedent must set for future reference.
Take the case of President Banda where his immunity was removed. The case was not judicially decided by the Supreme Court as no appeal was made. Banda case cant be a precedent at law.
This is a piece of advice to all supporters

    • @robmwale, you sound like you are a lawyer, now tell me if lawyers belong to profession & have ethics what’s their 1st call of duty in court cases? Is it to assist court’s arrive @ just position within rules or is it to win case @ all costs? E.g. engineers won’t build if they know structure will be harmful to public no matter how much money client is promising; medical doctors won’t carry out procedure they know is harmful or useless no matter how good the fee offered. Do lawyers have such ethics? Are you saying provisions in art. 103 of constitution are not law & concourt shouldn’t have complied with them?

  5. The issue with UPND is refusal to accept the Concourt decision not to continue with the petition beyond the 14 day allowed. Any suggestion for dialogue on that is asking for the impossible. This has nothing to do with PF and it’s absurd to even hint that ECL has refused dialogue!

  6. Mama, you want to dialogue, with who and about what? With a hyena? If its about violence, why not talk with the police command or the con court?

  7. Now you talking am sure it took HH alot of hours to come to an agreement with you mama. Well done put some sense and remove some pride in Trump’s friend.

  8. Let the courts hear the petition and avail witnesses and evidence how elections results were stolen by Lungu and once PF has accepted or courts find it guilty of stealing votes and violations of the constitution of Zambia, Lungu can be recognised and proceed with an impeachment.

  9. Can you impeach our President kkkkkkkk, some of you have little brain on issues, dialogue what is it there to dialogue? Learn to move in life nothing will change until 2021 when your HH will lose again. He is a dictator he can’t even hold a convection what a leader when he speaks what come out of his mouth is bitterness all the time and that chi mama saying Zambian interests, your interests don’t put Zambians on this even in Parliament you don’t have numbers,a bunch of losers shame

  10. where does the constitution say you have to recognise the president.
if the opposition ‘ RECOGNISES” THE PRESIDENT THEN THERE CAN BE NO COURT CASE. SO THE STANCE THAT THE OPPOSITION MUST TAKE IS THE ONE THAT THEY ARE TAKING NOW. rESOLVE THE TIME ISSUE 14 DAyS, RESOLVE THAT ONCE THE CASE HIS LODGED IT MUST BE HEARD. ThAT IS WHY WE HAVE LAWYERS, WE HAVE BECOME SiDETRACKED ON PURE POLITICS. Resolve the issues and move Zambia forward
parliament and recoignition of a president different. Pipo who are voted in can sit in parliament thats the law

sorry bout the capitals didnt realise was on cap lock

    • Bwana resolving the 14 days issue, how? If 14 days elapses without facts anr figures, it’s BINGO for the one being petitioned. If it’s fair, right, good, etc we can discuss and arrive at a consensus for the future. For now that is how the constitution is tailored. Even Mr. Hichilema, Ms Malumango, GBM, etc they know this very well. They are only short of saying okay the time was short they had a lot to say. Ifunde lifunde, you can’t change it because somebody is aggrieved.

  11. parliaments are boycotted world wide when parties want to make a point it is their democratic right. Even on tarmac HE ECL confirmed that Zambia is a democratic country.. Zambia we are not mature in our political views.
    democracy has divergent views.
Personal poverty is the problem in politics in Zambia, everybody wants to ‘chew’ while the country goes hungry.
Where in the world do “politicians” jump from one party to another.

Where in the world do “politicians” jump from one party to another. you have blocked this one why

  13. The call to dialogue is welcome, only those that don’t mean well don’t heed. However, our politicians are too proud and egoistic. Indabas called previously failed because of pride. I remember how Chama Chakomboka refused to greet KK, and how Dean Mung’omba insisted that FTJ could not chair such a gathering when the latter was President. LPM’s insaka failed, to him UPND was like buttocks that were always behind, even MCS wasn’t willing to dialogue with under 5 poiliticians. Today we have the issue of recognition and chimbwi. Honestly, how do you go into discussions with a position and disrespect for others? It’s not about a show of mighty, it’s about give and take

  14. Who are you going to dialogue with? How can you dialogue with a person you don’t recognise to be a president? Ba Mutale sober up.

  15. Dialogue with whom, Mrs Nalumango? With fellow milionares like Trump you mean, since HH does not talk to small poor people like ECL? Meantime the people of Zambia prefer to be ruled by the poor ECL rather than the rich Hakainde…….Dialogue impossible ba mayo ba Mutale!

@1?1 Dan, your observation is correct, she is bemba and married to a non bemba, a Lozi I think. True Zambians, Mutale and her husband. What she is doing in UPNDonkeys beats any normal mind.

  16. Too many spokespersons and contradictory statements from Upnd. Katuka breathing fire while Nalumango preaches peace

  17. Terrible the ASS now you have called the President a small poor person. Is that respecting or recognising his excellency. Everytime you open mouth you show your ignorance of the english language amd you had the absolute audacity to tell a blogger that oversubscribed was the same as overwhelmed. Pick your game your becoming an embarrassment to your party and yourself.why do you always bring tribe into a discussion ,pipo like are causing division in society Mature or are you thst old you are going through second childhood.
