BUKS donates vehicle to Police Flying Squad

Share

BUKS Haulage Limited, BHL, a Ndola based transportation company, has donated a motor vehicle to the Zambia Police Copperbelt region Flying Squad unit.

Speaking at the handover ceremony at the police provincial headquarters in Ndola today, BHL operations manager, Artson Kanyenda, said the donated vehcle is meant to help reduce the transport problems the Flying Squad Unit encounters in its efforts to address crimes in the province.

Mr Kanyenda observed that government is losing huge sums of money through various crimes committed on a daily basis especially theft of copper concentrates from mining companies.

He, however, observed that Police are doing a commendable job in fighting crime in the country especially on the Copperbelt despite operating under difficult conditions.

Speaking at the same function, acting Copperbelt police commanding officer Danwell Kasonde thanked BHL for the donation.

Mr Kasonde said the vehicle will ease the operations of the flying squad in fighting crime.
He urged the officers in the flying squad unit to work harder as the excuse of lack of transport had been solved.

He said the usage of the vehicle will be monitored so that it will be well taken care of.

Mr Kasonde also appealed to other organisations to emulate the gesture by BHL and help ease police operational handicaps.

  1. Welcome gesture. If only the would put the detective agencies to work in Zambia efficiently silly crimes can be prunned to an almost standstill. More of such selflessness and we can pick Zambia up.

  2. @ Ciroc yes it is news. Media has conditioned us to think that only bad news is news hence the ‘it bleeds, it leads’ mentality but personally i don’t mind reading such progressive stuff along with the usual bickering. Well done BUKS, if more of us can have such an attitude I’m sure Zambia’s downhill slide can be mitigated if not all together halted.

  3. yeah.. its nice to see a positive story.. but it is also sad when we consider a flying squad getting one car such great progress.. i was just trying to point that out. but sure, well don BUKS i suppose.

  4. what car is this iye yine that had the whole ndola police bosses not be in the offices. Zed is indeed a poor country

  5. we are poor indeed but this is what we need, not only ‘ponting’ for politicians we should also give but to the nation rather than just waiting for miracles to happen. Especially those of us who are outside our country, we shouldn’t have a mentality of ” When things get better i will go back” we should think of how we will improve our nation by giving back whatever we can, be it in terms of services or money/goods. Well done BUKS, its a small donation but lets remember drop by drop filled the ocean.

  6. In Short Buk has given the Police the vehicle to safeguard their Interest in the concentrate Business.
