National Revolution Party to support UPND/PF pact in Chitambo by-election

Share

CorrectedThe National Revolution Party (NRP) has declared its support for the Patriotic Front and United Party for National Development PF/UPND pact candidate for the forthcoming Chitambo by-election slated for next month.

Party President Cosmo Mumba said the NRP has decided to rally behind the PF/UPND as it was unable to field a candidate of its own at the moment.

Mr Mumba said the NRP failed to field a candidate in the by-elections because the party was busy preparing for the 2011 tripartite elections.

He said his party has supported the PF/UPND pact because the adopted candidate was a young man who looks promising enough to deliver quality services for the people of Chitambo constituency.

He told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that his party’s declared support for the PF/UPND pact candidate does not however mean that the NRP was joining the PF/UPND pact.

The Chitambo by-election which has been slated for August 13 was necessitated following the death of area member of parliament Nasim Hamir who died on May 1.

Four candidates that include Dr Solomon Musonda from the ruling Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD), Chanda Mutale from the PF/UPND pact, [quote] Evans Chola from the Forum for Democracy and Development(FDD), and Timoyhy Kapolo from the United Independence Party (UNIP) are vying for the sit.

Meanwhile, Mr Mumba has called on the republican President Mr. Rupiah Banda to fire Local Government and Housing Minister Benny Tetamashimba.

The NRP President said Mr. Tetamashimba’s call for the suspension of Livingstone Mayor Joram Mwinda based on allegations of raping a Livingstone woman is uncalled for, selfish and very childish.

He said the Livingstone Mayor should not be suspended based on allegations, adding that everyone is innocent until proven guilty by the courts of law.

Mr Mumba urged the President to quickly fire Mr. Tetamashimba saying the minister’s utterances are likely to divide the ruling MMD.

This comes in the wake of local government minister Benny Tetamashimba’s directive to his ministry’s permanent secretary Coillard Chibbonta to suspend Livingstone mayor Joram Mwinda over the alleged rape case.

  2. Dear Dr Mumba,

I neither have faith nor trust in what you say or do. Its like your utterances are made in your deep slumber.

Dr Mumba i love you because the bible admonishes me to do so BUT Please Dr. Mumba, with the title “Doctor” worth of its salt, I beg you to awaken from your sleep. Come to reality so that I could perceive ojective behaviour from you and not hallucinations or ill intended decisions.

  3. Please he is not a Doctor!!! Do you mean witchdoctor? I know this guy is a fake. He failed at UCZ theological college before running to the DRC. when he came back, he declared himself Doctor! What a fake!

  4. This chap is NOT worth the coverage they are giving him. LT, please censor such chracters as they are not news worthy. Tell this chap to find a job and let him start working instead of pushing things he can never do in his life. The chap is shallow and unprincipled. Why do higher aithorities pay attention to such people? Tetamashimba, deal with this chap as he is at your level and has challenged you. So you too can sort it out and am sure Tetamashimba can win this one hands down. Shut the chap up once for all. Which University would award a Doctorate to such crap?

  5. Mumba Munmba you are a brave guy in the den of f.o.o.l.s. When will you stop ranting and dreaming? Man , find something to do than wasting your time yapying day in and day out. 6. So the character and probably his sponsors want to cheat the Zambian people with “He [Mr Mumba C. (Grade 12?, Bachelors?, Masters?, PhD?)] told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that his party’s declared support for the PF/UPND pact candidate does not however mean that the NRP was joining the PF/UPND pact” that he is a sympathiser of the UPND-PF PACT when he was castigating them just last week for lacking grassroots consulltation or so when in actual fact he wants to be an informant to destroy the PACT from its inside.

President HH and the rest of the PACT Team, beware of characters who are bent on destroying your initiative. Have a blessed day all.

  7. LT, please correct the headline of this story. It says New Generation Party (NGP), while the story is about National Revolutionary Party (NRP). NGP, as y’all are aware is run by another misguided fellow

  8. Mr. Mumba pamo no mubiyo Mr.Siulapwa just shut up.We know you want to confuse confusion by this political prostitution you have started.Tomorrow you will be crying ati balitubomfya

  9. Cozmo, Lusaka Times is not a Doctor! He has no votes to add to the pact PF/UPND, so please stay away and cling to Nyamasoya, twapapata. PF/UPND must not admit him, because he will come up with a very weired scheme that wil destory them, who knows maybe he has been sent by The Movement For Multi Destruction (MMD).

  10. carry on cosmo, the world will not be complete without comedians like you.only that this time as a conman you have backed a wrong horse.the opposition cant oil you.KING SATA is broke,PRINCE HH does not dish out cash.only EMPEROR BWEZANI does.so waloba ilyauma.

  11. I like the way RB is running the Government. The man is approachable and very intelligent. 2010 is wholly for His Excellency RB. He is a man of substance

  12. The so called Dr Mumba willbe only 32 in 2011 and therefore does not qualify to stand as presidential candidate according to the zambia n constitution

  13. #12 On what planet are you living. The man has no agenda for Zambia. He does not know when and where to talk politics eg he receives a diplomat instead of talking about the two countries bilateral relations, he wants to talk about how he defeated Sata. He goes to Luapula and talks about Chiluba thinking that we Luapulans are Chiluba’s followers. Boot Licker its time you started to lick Zambias boots not MMD boots.

  14. MMD CHIEF BOOTLICKER,
Anything is possible with half brain zambians, don’t you remember that in the runup to the 2006 elections despite all that levy did to uplift the lives of every muppet called a zambian and having fought mega corruption including nailing his mentor chiluba for theft.the poor souls and enlightened in urban areas opted to buy SATA’s lies and turned him into an instant hero.even this time around BWEZANI can be prefered to the more pragmatic, vision endowed, dynamic and Digital compartible professor clive chirwa

  15. #15 AKAPONDO- Who are you calling a muppet? As for Levy his being un popular was due to the way he came to be president. As for his fight against corruption, this was a political gimic because he knew that at that time Chiluba was the most hated person in Zamabia. So he jumped on the band wagon. Am sure you are aware that the same source where Chiluba used to get funds for OP is still being used. In other countries offences purpoted to have been committed by Chiluba would not be tried in an open court, but since this was Levy’s political survival strategy it had to be publicised

  16. DEJA VU, never mind who am calling a muppet, the fact is levy’s fight against chiluba’s corruption goes back to the time he was bold enough to resign as vice president.he came to see how chiluba and his cohorts sata especially veered off the course of what they promised people.so his coming to presidence was just ammunition provided and he firmly executed it.yes despite all the controversy that surrounded his coming to power he proved that he was not selfish and was very honest in managing public resources and posted major economic gains in an economy which was in a free fall.to crown it all,it was and is still a scum for people paraded before sata as a messiah, whose brutality every one knows.who championed chiluba’s third term without shame.if i may ask is sata’s hatred for chiluba…

  17. I was winding up by asking that is SATA’s hatred for chiluba out of principal or a case of sour grapes?you all remember what type of misery people who opposed sata and chiluba’s third term agenda went through.you all remember Nakawala, scorpion,Bobo including Alfred Ndhlovu and you know what brought them on the centre stage and who their sponsor was.now is not only a muppet who can forget such characters to later turn around and change them from villains into heroes?

  18. LT come out clean and point out any sacarsm in my post that warrants being moderated.dont be over sensitive.

  19. #17 AKAPONDO If Levy resigned on moral grounds then he lost all morality when he accepted FTJs offer to become President. By the way do you know that the money which funded Levy’s campain was from the SAME source. A principled man would have refused to receive ill gotten things but he did. So where is morality. Please dont go around the question just say NO or YES
