Share

Police in Nangweshi have arrested a Namibian national for human trafficking.

Raymond Basika Matiti 61 was arrested together with a Zambian national, Likando Likando, after a tip off from alert members of the public.

Basika bundled four children in his Toyota Hilux registration number N50 KM before he was apprehended at a check point mounted along Senanga to Sesheke road.

The rescued children include Memory Kailu 9, Mushe Likando 10, Ndala Sinabu 15 and a Nakushowa Ngodo 20 all of Sinungu village.

Once convicted the accused persons would be imprisoned for a minimum period of 20 years. Human Trafficking is contrary to CAP 87; Section 143 Act 15 of the Laws of Zambia.

And ZANIS confirmed the rescued children and the impounded vehicle which was currently parked at Senanga Police Station.

Effort to reach Western Province Police Chief Vaul Muzwenga proved futile by press time

  1. Can we have more details when they are available so that we can ascertain whether this was truly a case of child trafficking.

  2. No. 3, even a 30 year old can be trafficked. I think you need to understand what trafficking really is. These people were not hijacked, lol. Good luck

  3. # 3, these are villagers we are talking about by the way. This case however may not go anywhere, unless it was a case of some petty crimes. As a matter of interest, what happens to all those we read of people caught molesting children? Do they all end in convictions?

  4. #3 (Agnostic), you think traffickers are honest or straight with facts and their intentions when dealing with intended victims?! Adults have found themselves snared by these human traffickers the world over, and you think children stand a chance?

Like #5 (Patriot) has said, you really need to educate yourself about this evil.

    LOCK THEM UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Its good that these pipo were caught, the trafikers often use the kids for prostituion and slavery, there are so many cases here in the UK . Alot of African kids are being trafficked to work in European brothels as S. E. X slaves, often with a promise of a better life abroad.
