El Merreikh Arrive For Sunday Clash

El Merreikh coach Mohamed Abdullah has said Sunday’s Caf African Champions League Group A game against Zesco United at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka will be a different match.

The Sudanese side lost 3-2 to Zesco in the 1st leg played on  August 14 in Khartoum to remain rooted at the bottom of Group A after three round of matches played.

“It will be a difficult match,” Abdullah said upon arrival at Lusaka international airport. “We have to fight to be in the competition.”

Abdullah added that El Merreikh  had reputation to keep and were eyeing the 3 points to rise from the bottom of Group A.

Zesco are currently 2nd in Group A on 4 points, 3 behind leaders Al Hilal of Sudan.

Kano Pillars, who host Al Hilal this weekend in Nigeria, are 3rd on 4 points but with an inferior goal difference to Zesco.

Sunday’s kicoff will be at 14:00.

  1. ZESCORO must watch out. Never depend on the past glory. Games have changed, there is no home advantage these days. Zambia lost at home ground to Algeria, so play as if you have never beaten them before. Go flatout for points. The best way of defending your points is attacking and you may even gain more points for yourselves and Zambia

  2. WA JOHN KUM’MAWA you are a wise man. what you just said is true, their is no home advantages these days. i like it and lets hope these guyz see this and follow. however, one shocking moment for the national team being beaten by red arrows. i t hink this team shud be distroyed coz if you can lose from a local based team what can you do with the algerians. yaba ba shikala mufakile nzelu.

  3. Zesco can still do it provided they don’t underrate their opponents, they are really a good side.
Don’t let us down guys,GO ZESCO GO.

  4. Is nt this the club that once beat Zambia national team some time back, in some competition? Dont underrate them but they are beatable.Go Zesco Go

  5. ZESCO will definitely win because we too have a very huge, enormous & big “reputation” to keep. So Abdullah should not think we are push overs. Let him be reminded that Zambia even at National Level Does not find it difficult to beat Sudan. So come Sunday – ‘Awe Mwandi Mukesa Njeba’ ZESCO (outright WIN)- (outright LOSS)El Merreikh
