Chief Siachitema of Dundumwezi Constituency in Kalomo district in Southern Province has called on government to consider sending relief food to his chiefdom following a dry spell experienced in the area.

Chef Siachitema, who spoke through his spokesperson, Johns Chiboola said the dry spell which hit the chiefdom at the planting stage caused a devastating effect on the maize fields.

The traditional leader was speaking ZANIS in a telephone interview.

He said his chiefdom will record a poor crop harvest during the 2017/2018 crop marketing season because of the dry spell experience in the area early this year.

The traditional leader noted that the chiefdom will be grateful should government consider sending relief food to help his subjects.

And Chief Siachitema has urged government to ensure that this year’s farming inputs are delivered on time to small Scale farmers in his chiefdom, in order for them to prepare adequately for the 2018/2019 farming season.

  1. His Excellency the small god of cowthern province will look into it. He is the richest and he is able to feed his people for a year. After all he is the one who advised his people not to participate in the prayers because prayers.

  2. Izaminyokola njala, no kupusa Kwanu a tonga.
Your god ka hh will bring manna for u, just wait patiently aisha, Shaaaa

  3. I’m yet to hear of people in Northern Province ask for relief food, yet you call them lazy. May God help you

  4. I don’t blame the people of Dundumwezi and Southern Prov but rather the poor policies of govt, a lot of farmers were discouraged from growing maize last farming season due to the low and exploitative price of maize, a 50 kg bag was going as low as K35 to briefcase buyers in Kalomo as reported by ZCF president on ZNBC. How do you expect a farmer to continue farming with such prices and exploitation? I’m on record of saying we as a nation might experience problems due to fewer farmers growing maize as a result of this discouragement. Now it is happening, Dumdumwezi is just the first town expect more towns to follow suite. So sad!

  5. Ctn… Now this again shows how selfish and self centred UPND can be, why didn’t they press the govt on the issue of the maize price? Their own people are suffering because of them deliberately avoiding to make more than a passing sentence as did Nkombo and HH, these guys are proper opportunists that can only be compared to the evil woman in the old testament that wanted King Solomon to cut a baby in half due to a dispute of motherhood of the same. These are your future leaders abena Zambia, I’m telling you because the failures of PF have left most Zambians no alternative but to go for real selfish ego minded cretins!

  6. Please GRZ and DMMU look into the Dundumwenzi call for relief food. Give them food as they have asked for help…I think this may make them know that Chagwa is the president. It is one Zambia one Nation. Do not mind that they ever vote for HH and UPND , its their choice any way. However some times they should also be objective than always inclining to their agenda even if HH and UPND do not make sense any more.
